Stable Android Auto 8.2 Update Now Rolling Out [APK Download]

Google finally released the much-anticipated Android Auto v8 in the stable channel after long being stuck at v7.8. Simultaneously releasing the Android Auto 8.2 beta version, which includes new features, improved stability, and bug fixes. With Android Auto 8.0, Google integrated the new Coolwalk interface source code. However, it won’t activate unless the firm releases a server-side update to unlock the brand new Coolwalk UI. You may also want to keep the Google Play Store and Play Services APK updated.

For select users, Google is testing the Coolwalk UI feature. However, there is a catch. Some users have reported that the Coolwalk UI is unlocked by using a PC head unit emulation with a screen resolution of 1280×720 or higher. It may also enable CoolWalk UI for automobile display systems with the same or larger screen size.

Alternatively, you may use the latest APK from stable AA 8.2 to force activate Coolwalk UI on any Android Auto. More on that below.

Google is working on a new Android Auto update codenamed “Coolwalk.” The app is seemingly in the works and a global rollout is coming soon.
