Google just released the official stable build of Android 8.1 Oreo and there are rumors surfacing about the upcoming Android 9.0 firmware already. In the next Google I/O 2018 we will surely hear about the next Android version. So here is a list of Android devices which will receive the Android P update for sure. Yes, it is very ambitious of us to state about an operating system which haven’t even been launched yet. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus
Samsung indeed set the trend this year with their bezel-less phones – Galaxy S8 and S8+. The two devices come with an interface called the “Infinity Display”. A lot of manufacturers followed the similar trend of minimum bezel. Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo under Samsung’s Beta Program. This brings a new Samsung Experience 9.0 to the two devices.
Samsung displayed a list of devices that would receive Android 8.0 Oreo update. It includes the 2 year old Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge Plus which were launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Just like the Android One, Android GO is another Android OS created for low budget phones. Google announced it today with the launch of official Android 8.1 Oreo. Android GO Edition is a light weight Oreo ROM designed for low end devices with 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM. It comes with all sets of light weight applications like Go Play, Go Files, etc.
This is going to be another category of devices called the Android GO Edition phones. Google is asking manufacturers, and developers to create their own custom ROMS for the low end devices. OnePlus 5 or 5T
The OnePlus 5 device have already started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update under the Open Beta program. You will see more such updates along the road for the OnePlus 5 and 5T devices. The previous OnePlus 3/3T are already running official Oxygen OS 5.0 based Oreo. This makes OnePlus the very first third-party manufacturer to release official Oreo for their device.
The manufacturer is ahead in the update game as always. OnePlus 5/5T are guaranteed to receive the Android 9.0 P update next year once the sources are released.
Sony Xperia X series
Quite some Sony phones are already on the Oreo update. First the Xperia XZ Premium, then the X Performance, later the flagships Xperia XZ/XZs. So you better stock with Sony’s Xperia X and XZ series to receive the latest Android P update.
Essential Phones company is setup by one of the Android Inc. founder Andy Rubin. The first Essential PH-1 is already on the Oreo Beta. Moreover, the device just received the December 2017 Security Patch. It has beed designed taking into the everyday user into account. The company is pro-development and will sure receive the Android 9.0 P update next year.
Moreover, Essential Phone is an affordable phone and allows the users to customize the device. The only and major downside of the phone is that it is only available in select countries like the United States. So you may simply want to skip it for now.
