Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 2 rolling out for Phone 1 with Android 14 [Download]

Nothing has released the second open beta of Nothing OS 2.5 for its Phone 1 smartphone. The update brings a number of improvements and bug fixes, including major optimizations to camera app like Night Mode photography, improved smoothness when taking pictures. The update also brings the latest January 2024 security patches based on Android 14.

Other changes in the update include support for pull-down access to Quick Settings for network and connectivity options from the lock screen, improved compatibility with certain chargers, optimized background processes, improved performance when memory is running low, enhanced fingerprint recognition accuracy, optimized VoLTE icon display logic in the status bar, and an upgraded Google security patch to January 2024.

A number of bug fixes have also been included in the update, including fixes for abnormal notification background colors, unresponsive Bluetooth icons in the Quick Settings, noise issues with Bluetooth audio devices in specific scenarios, battery percentage not being displayed in the status bar, abnormal display issues with the clock widget, improved stability of the System UI, unresponsive calculator widget on the lock screen, overlapping issue between lightweight notifications and banner notifications in Game Mode, and general bug fixes and improvements.

Android 14 from Nothing brings a redesigned joint Home Screen and Lock Screen page. The edit wallpaper flow has been refined, providing users with a more comprehensive view of options.

NOS 2.5 also introduces a new Atmosphere wallpaper effect, transforming background photos into dynamic wallpapers, giving you a seamless transition between the lock and home screens. The Glass wallpaper effect allows users to apply a Glass filter to their favorite wallpapers.

Glyph progress integration for Google Calendar. The Glyph Interface now features a 5-minute countdown, keeping you informed about upcoming events at a glance. Glyph Timer gets an upgrade with time presets, enabling users to quickly set desired durations. Accessible directly from the lock screen, this feature enhances time management without unlocking the device.

With a new Glyph animation for NFC usage and improved Flip to Glyph experience (V-7), Nothing OS 2.5 adds finesse to user interactions, ensuring a smoother and more engaging experience.

Nothing OS 2.5 also introduced new dynamic widgets like the Pedometer Widget to track your daily steps directly from the home screen. Set goals and monitor your progress effortlessly.

The Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 2 is available now for download from the Nothing servers. To install the update, users must first enroll in the Nothing OS Beta program. Once enrolled, users can download the update by going to Settings > System > System updates and tapping the “Check for updates” button.

How to download Nothing OS 2.5 full OTA update zip for Nothing Phone 1?

• Ensure you have the latest Nothing OS 2.0.5 update for Phone 1 installed.
• Download this APK and install it from your downloads
  (This is different from the Installer provided for 2.5 Betas on Phone (2))
• Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
• Tap “Check for new version” and follow the steps to get started.

Download Nothing OS 2.0 Rollback package for Phone 1

• Backup all your data as the rollback will result in a factory reset. All unsaved data will be lost.
• Download the rollback package for Nothing OS 2.0.5
• Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
• Tap “Import file” and select the previously downloaded package.
• Follow the steps to carry through with the rollback.
• (You may need to create a folder called ‘Documents’ within Internal Storage if you experience an error when trying to install/rollback)
