WhatsApp is rolling out its Channels feature, similar to the Telegram app, to all users across the globe. WhatsApp Channels feature is expanding to more than 150 countries starting today. This feature allows users to receive updates from creators, organizations, and brands via a single channel. WhatsApp is also introducing several enhancements, including an improved directory, the ability to use emoji reactions and a 30-day editing window for channel admins.
The messaging app plans to add “thousands” of new channels, featuring content from notable figures, news channels, journals, businesses, and much more.
However, not everyone can create a channel, despite WhatsApp having a How to create a WhatsApp Channel tutorial on it’s official website. You will only be able to follow the verified channels for now.
Furthermore, WhatsApp intends to introduce additional features based on user feedback and will soon allow users to create their channels. If the Channels feature is not yet visible in your app, you can join a waitlist on mobile to receive notifications about its availability.
