3G and 2G shutting down this year (2021) — Here’s when T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T will stop 2G/3G

As 4G becomes streamlined, many countries and network carriers across the globe are advancing towards the next generation 5G network. The United States and the United Kingdom became one of the first countries to successfully deploy 5G starting 2019. As we move forward, the age-old technologies like 3G and 2G have become obsolete and shutting down as soon as this year 2021.

T-Mobile is sending out notices to their customers and businesses essentially letting them know that 3G and 2G services will no longer work later this year. As T-Mobile and Sprint recently merged, the same applies to both. T-Mobile will shut down 3G in October 1, 2021. As for the 2G network, it will continue till the end of next year before being completely shut down on December 31, 2022.

Furthermore, all the major network carriers in the United States have set out a plan for shutting down 3G and 2G entirely next year (2022). AT&T will shut down its 3G services by February, 2022. Verizon will shut down 2G, 3G (CDMA) by 2023. As for Sprint, it may discontinue 2G/3G by 2022. The complete list is below.

While most of the non-commercial customers have already migrated to 4G or perhaps 5G, some businesses are still dependent on the older 3G or even 2G for their services. This is when 3G and 2G services will stop working on your phones.
