[Download] New Nothing OS 2.5.3A Hotfix Update rolling out for Phone 1 with discreet call recording

Nothing Tech just pushed a new Nothing OS 2.5.3A hotfix OTA update for the Phone 1 featuring the same changelog, but some under-the-hood bug fixes. There may be some critical bugs left unnoticed in the previous update. The NOS 2.5.3A update weighs just 56 MB in size. It is highly recommended to upgrade to the latest firmware on your Nothing Phone 1.

The firm also launched a new mid-range smartphone named Phone 2a with AI features like the new AI Wallpaper generator. The Phone 2a featured Nothing OS 2.5.3 based on Android 14 out of the box. Son after, the Phone 1 received the new security updates and features as well.

Nothing OS 2.5.3 for the Phone 1 features New Recorder widget with discreet call recording. This allows you to record calls without announcing to the other party they are being recorded. This was the most asked feature by the Nothing community.

Carl Pei confirmed it in one of his Tweets. This feature will be rolling out to all Nothing devices across the globe. However, it goes without saying that restrictions may be made in some countries, like the United States, where two party consent is required for call recording in some regions.

The update also optimized the fluidity for widgets and app-opening animations. You also get enhanced lock screen animation effects for a smoother experience. Improved the clock animation on the Always On Display (AOD) interface. Updated security patch for enhanced device protection.

Resolved flickering issues when editing or displaying lock screen widgets in certain scenarios. Fixed the problem where text messages failed to send in specific scenarios. Resolved flickering issues during fingerprint unlocking on the AOD interface.

Nothing OS 2.5 brought tons of new features like Dynamic Widgets, redesigned joint home screen and lock screen, new wallpapers, new Glyph interface, new Gestures, and much more.

How to Install Nothing OS full OTA update zip for Nothing Phone?

• Go to “Settings > About phone > Software info” to confirm that your system has been updated to the latest version (Nothing OS 2.0). If not, please go to “Settings > System > System update” to check for updates.
• Download the latest software update package.
• Create a folder named “ota” (without the quotes) at the root of the internal storage. Meaning outside every folder.
• Copy the OTA update ZIP file from above to that folder.
• Open the phone app and Dial *#*#682#*#*

• The local update tool should launch.
• In the drop-down list that appears, select the upgrade package you just copied.
• Tap the “Directly apply OTA from selection” button to start updating.
• Reboot your device after the upgrade process is complete.
• A pop-up will appear asking if you would like to reboot your device. We strongly recommend selecting “Confirm” here, as upgrades require a reboot to enter the new version.
• Upgrade successful
