Google Pixel Watch March 2023 update download

Google Pixel Watch has been receiving quality-of-life updates ever since its launch. Earlier this month, Google released the most anticipated Fall Detection feature for its smartwatch. Today, the firm dropped the latest March 2023 update for the Pixel Watch.

While the fall detection feature was rolled out earlier this month, not all regions received it at the same time. It was only available in the United States. The March 2023 update features Fall Detection for all including the UK, Europe, and Asia.

The update also brings several new features, improvements, and bug fixes. For one, Digital Clock is now available with a button press when the device is low on battery. The time will now appear upon crown push, alongside the red low battery indicator.

You can also now rotate the Crown to wake the watch. This comes in addition to tilt and button press to do the same.

Google also improved touch screen sensitivity for a better experience. Plus, you can now enable or disable Battery saver with a single tap.

Fall Detection for Pixel Watch

Fall Detection is a feature that uses sensors and algorithms to detect if the wearer has taken a hard fall. If it detects a fall, the watch will immediately vibrate and display an alert asking if the wearer is okay. If there is no response within a set time, the watch will automatically call emergency services and share the wearerโ€™s location. This can be especially useful for older adults, those with medical conditions, and anyone who may be at risk of falls.

This feature can be turned on under โ€˜Updatesโ€™ page on the Watch Companion app or directly on the Pixel Watch in the Personal Safety app.

It comes in addition to theย ย Emergency SOS on the Pixel Watch and car crash detection in the Personal Safety App available on Pixel phones.

As for how it works, if the wearer takes a hard fall and the watch detects they arenโ€™t moving for about 30 seconds, the Pixel Watch will vibrate, sound an alarm and display an on-screen notification to check on you. You can tap โ€˜Iโ€™m OKโ€™ on the watch face to dismiss the notification or tap โ€˜I fell & need helpโ€™ to be connected to emergency services right away.

If you donโ€™t respond at all, the alarm will continue for about a minute, getting louder in the final few seconds. Then the watch will automatically attempt to call emergency services and play an automated message that requests help wherever you are.
