Xiaomi brings a major change to the Pocophone with a new software update. A new OTA update is rolling out for Poco F1 that features major software changes complying with the Indian government’s privacy and data protection measures. If you don’t already know, government of India has banned hundreds of Chinese apps including the notorious CleanMaster APK that was hidden in the MIUI firmware. The company’s community apps was also blocked. While Xiaomi removes these apps with a series of OTA updates, here is the latest MIUI OTA for Poco F1 that removes even more apps and services provided by Xiaomi.

The latest MIUI firmware update removes many Xiaomi apps and services from the Poco F1 including Mi Video, slow-motion videos, AI soundtrack, dictated subtitles, and selected preview functionalities. As you can see some of these are not just apps but also services that Xioami provides. As for the rest of the world, like the European market may still enjoy these services.

Xiaomi Poco F1 Receives MIUI OTA update changelog

Apart from removal of apps, Xiaomi also pushed August 2020 security patch level. The full OTA weighs 1.9 GB in size. As always, the update is marked as stable beta version at first. Then pushed to everyone else over the stable channel. Although we may have provided the full OTA below, sometimes it may still show as beta. At some point, you can manually sideload the full OTA onto your Android.

Xiaomi POCO F1 already received Android 10 earlier this year based on MIUI 11. The manufacturer soon released MIUI 12 firmware update for the device just a couple of months ago. It featured a new firmware build number MIUI based on Android 10 and all of it’s goodies. MIUI 12 features Dark Mode 2.0, Super Wallpapers, enhanced privacy protection and tools, new navigation gestures, new animations, icons, wallpapers, etc. You can checkout all the MIUI 12 features from here. The full OTA update comes in a large package of 1.92 GB in size. Whereas, the incremental OTA is small. It features build MIUI Here you can find the full recovery ROM for the same. Using this zip file you can manually update your POCO F1.

Note: If you don’t see the upgrade option, tap on the MIUI icon several times. Then try again. Don’t stop the update once started. If stopped, you will need to do the operation again right from downloading the firmware file again. This will not erase any data in your phone.
