Moto G5S and G5S Plus receive February 2019 Security OTA Updatewith build OPSS28.65-36-9

Motorola had some successful product launches in the past especially when the manufacturer introduced the Moto G5 series. Seeing its success, Motorola added two new phones to the G5 series called Moto G5S and G5S+. Since then, the devices have received Android 8.1 Oreo with regular security patch levels. We have already received December 2018 security patch for theย Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus. Now, the latest February 2019 security patch OTA update based on Android 8.1 Oreo in now available for download in the United States.

The new OTA update features a new firmware build numberย OPSS28.65-36-9. Soon other variants likeย retde, retgb, reteu European variants andย and retin Asian variants will receive the same. Indian variants will soon follow because South East Asian countries receive the latest OTA update earlier.ย Moreover, the Moto G5 and G5+ are already running the February 2019 patch level. It features battery optimization, RAM managements, third-party app compatibility, and general bug fixes. Soย you can expect the same.

Moreover, the Moto G6 and G6 Plus series phones are already running Android 9.0 Pie right now. There are rumors that the beloved Moto G5S series phones may also receive Android Pie. How to download Moto G5S and G5S Plus February 2019 OTA update?

As a users you can capture OTA update yourself. Once the OTA update is live for Moto G5 Plus phones you can go through the following steps to capture the latest OTA update from different regions and share the download links.

  • Make sure your Moto G5S (Plus) runs Android 8.1 Oreo
  • Go to Settings app in the apps drawer.
  • Select โ€œSystemโ€.
  • Choose โ€œSystem updatesโ€.
  • If the October update is live in your region, you will see a โ€œdownloadโ€ option.
  • Select โ€œDownloadโ€.
  • After the software is downloaded, select โ€œInstallโ€.

Currently, Motorola is working on Android 9.0 Pie for some of its latest devices via soak test. So in order to participate, and update your Moto G to Android 9.0 Pie Beta you will need toย sign up for Motorola Feedback Network (Soak Test).
