Google announced the first build of Android P Developer Preview for the Pixel series devices long with 7 more manufacturer devices. Smartphone manufacturers include Xiaomi, OnePlus, Sony, Essential, Oppo, Vivo, and Essential all rolled out Android 9.0 Pie Beta for their flagship devices. One of these devices was Xiaomi’s flagship candidate Mi Mix 2S. Yes, it is time for Xiaomi’s Mix 2S to get the first official Android 9 Pie firmware update.
Now that Google rolled out official Android P build for Pixel phones and have updated the AOSP sources, it is time for other manufacturers to update the same. The first build of Android 9.0 Pie for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S based on MIUI 10 v8.8.7 is available for download. It is the China Developer ROM. So it may not come with Google Apps (Gapps). You can download MIUI 10 Gapps from here.
Soon, more MIUI 10 builds based on Android 9.0 Pie will roll out for other Xiaomi devices like the Note 5, Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6, 6A, Mi Max 3, Mi Mix 2, and many more. So stay tuned for we will post the links as soon as they are available.
Download Mi Max 2S Android 9.0 Pie ROM based on MIUI 10
Note that this is the China developer ROM and an alpha build. So it may come with some bugs at the moment.
How to install?
The easiest way is to transfer the ROM to phone storage and update using the Updater app under Settings. You can also dirty flash it over the official MIUI 10 v8.8.3 China Developer ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
- First, backup before you proceed.
- Download the MIUI 10 Android 9 Pie ROM from above.
- Transfer it to phone storage.
- Go to Settings,
- Tap on About phone,
- Choose System Updates,
- Tap on the option “Choose update package”
- Navigate to the zip file
Enjoy Android 9 Pie on your Xiaomi device.
