Yesterday, the OnePlus 2 was updated to a newer Oxygen OS 3.5.8 firmware build. The update is based on the same Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. However, it brings the latest March 2017 security patch level to the OnePlus 2, similar to the OnePlus 3 and 3T like the official Oxygen OS 4.1.0. Although the OnePlus 2 device has not yet received the Android 7.0 Nougat based update yet, the development team has brought a critical fix for the same.
Users across the globe are finding it pretty hard to download the OTA update over WiFi. The OTA download is always stuck at 0%. The reason for this is not yet clear, but some of the OnePlus 2 users have come to the rescue with the Oxygen OS 3.5.8 full firmware zip and made it available. You can download and flash it over custom TWRP or even stock recovery.
However, the stability of the firmware is not yet known. Hence, you should be cautious about it. A full Nandroid backup of all the apps, system, data, etc. is a must. Flashing the full firmware via TWRP recovery is a good decision in these situations because you can easily restore the previous firmware from backup.
The OTA weighs only 18 MB in size and the full firmware weighs about 1.19 GB or ~1.21 GB.
