Download List of Sony Xperia devices with Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update

The latest Android v7.0 Nougat has been out for a while now. Sony, which is known for its unique overhaul of the Vanilla Android, has now released Nougat for their top line-up of Xperia X and Xperia Z series which is expected. As we have already posted in our previous articles, the new firmware files are now available and can also be downloaded from the Sony mobile servers directly using Sony PC companion or the XperiFirm tools. The Xperia Z5 is the first phone from the Z series to receive the 32.3.A.0.372 OTA update and most of the X family variants like Xperia XZ, X, etc. have already received the latest January 2017 security patch 34.2.A.0.292.

If your device is not on the list but you look forward to using the latest Android OS, we would suggest patience as Sony has informed that Nougat would be supported on more devices soon. Most of the devices have been covered. However, the phones which are out of the support period may want to try some custom ROMS in order to get Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Sony quoted:

We will bring the Android 7.0 (Nougat) update to as many devices as possible, as quickly as we can. You can expect new Sony features and functionality, as well as improvements to the user experience.

What are the new features in Sony Xperia Nougat update?

  • Multi-window support: Improved Multitasking features – run two apps simultaneously and double-tap to switch.
  • Longer battery life: Some performance and improved battery life with aggressive Doze Mode.
  • Messaging: New Messaging app to share everything.
  • Camera Manual settings: Manual focus and shutter speed controls are the new features in the Camera app.
  • Home screen: Revamped home screen with Google Now integration.
