How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy S5 SM-G900T Marshmallow and Install TWRP androidsage

As we posted earlier, the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware for the US carrier device T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T is now available and we already have the full firmware file available for download. The Odin flashable firmware comes with the build number G900TUVU1GPE1 and brings the latestย Android version to the device. This is a great deal for all the Galaxy S5 users. Moreover, as the TWRP recovery for the T-Mobile variant is available and Chainfire, the developer behind the Super User functionality, has now supported the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware, root is now possible for the same. Hence, the T-Mobile Galaxy S5 can now be rooted in no time with the latest SuperSU v2.74 and the new TWRP build 3.0.0. This method works for almost any firmware be it Marshmallow PE1 or the Lollipop OJ4, OL1. All you need to do is flash the TWRP via Odin and then flash the SuperSU zip file through the custom recovery. Now if you are just looking for root and not the TWRP, then CF-Auto-Root is the best way to achieve it. How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy S5 G900T and Install TWRP?

First, download all the necessary files from the download section [TWRP, SuperSU zip file, SuperSU apk]. Now transfer these files to your deviceโ€™s internal storage. Also, keep a copy of TWRP onto your PC. Follow the sequence to successfully flash the ROM. Also, from Developer options enable USB debugging and enable Allow mock locations as well.

Step 1:ย Reboot into the bootloader or Odin mode on your S5 device. To do so, turn your phone off completely and press the volume down, home and power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.

Step 2:ย Now download andย open Odin software on your PC and connect your Galaxy device to your computer.

Step 3: In Odin, Click on AP and flash the TWRP recoveryย (use the latest version). Make sure auto reboot is uncheckedย from Odin options. Click start and wait for TWRP to install.

Note:ย Hold vol up/down, home, and power again to boot into TWRP recovery. TWRP might ask if you to modify device system or keep it read only. It is highly recommended to modify your system. ย You may also keep it read only.

Step 4: Once successful, reboot into the TWRP recovery. To do so, hold Power button to turn off the device and then hold Power, Home, and Volume Up simultaneously for a few seconds to boot into recovery.

Step 5:ย Once into the TWRP recovery, backup everything. Now tap on โ€œInstallโ€ and flash the SuperSU zip file. (BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip).

Step 6: Once you flash all the necessary files, reboot to system.

You may want to install theย SuperSU app from Play Store and start granting root access. When firmware boots up, run the superSU app and go into settings, disable the Mount namespace separation option, and reboot immediately.ย Thatโ€™s it. Enjoy root access on your latest Marshmallow firmware.ย Like and share us on social media. For queries comment down below.

This is the correct file twrp-3.0.2-1-klte.img.tar 10.6M for TWRP G900T Tar File. I had issues with the one listed above but this one works perfectly.

Thanks for this post. I got to the stage of installing TWRP. However, when I try to flash SuperSU, it fails and the error message that I get is E:failed to verify whole-file signature. What should I do? Appreciate your solutions…

At step 6, it says “disable the Mount namespace separation option, and reboot immediately”. I think I need to quit the superSU app and then reboot. Right?
