Xiaomi Mi Box 3 receives third Android 9 Pie HotFix update [OTA 0 Beta 2]

Updated: Xioami releases third Android 9 Pie beta update for the Mi Box 3 with build OTA0 Beta 2. This new update fixed a minor issue with API level. This should brings stability to the installed apps and fix issues while installing certain apps. This could very well be the last beta update before the final stable Android 9 Pie build for the Mi Box 3.

Original: Xiaomi just rolled out the first Android 9 Pie build for the Mi Box 3 (original Mi Box sold in U.S.) via beta program. We were the first publication to report about it as soon as we spotted the update. If you are interested, you can also checkout the early rumors of how developers at Xiaomi claimed to be testing Android 9 for the the original Mi Box 3, or popularly known as Mi Box in the United States. While it became quite uncertain whether Xioami would actually release the update at some point, here we are with the second Android 9 Pie HotFix OTA update for the Mi Box 3 with OTA 0 Beta 1 build.

If you own the four year old Android TV box, you have a chance to enroll into the beta program to try out Android 9 Pie on your device before the stable releases.Users enrolled into the Mi Box 3 OTA 0 Beta 0 started reporting bugs and giving out feedbacks. Fortunately, the update went smoothly and only needed a HotFix update for the cast issue. So if your Mi Box is having casting issues with Chromecast or directly from your smartphone via apps like YouTube, then it is highly recommended you upgrade to the second beta.

The update was first posted by a Reddit user /u/Askmetech, who shared a screenshot of the new HotFox OTA for the Xiaomi Mi Box 3. The update was grabbed from a very active Telegram group for the Mi Box S/4K.

Mi Box 3 users are fortunate because Xiaomi finished beta testing Android 9 Pie for the Mi Box S/4K and it wasn’t a pleasant ride at all. The device went through 3 consecutive beta programs taking several months to finally release a stable build.
