This comes under Samsung’s Beta program and is only available for users in the United States associated with network carriers like T-Mobile, Sprint, unlocked and also in the United Kingdom with unlocked S8 SM-G950F. However, there are only limited slots available; for about 5000 members. Users from other countries or regions can’t enroll. Whereas, you also get feature ports like new Oreo fonts, new Samsung Emojis, and much more.

How to install latest TouchWiz Home 9.0 app from Samsung Experience 9.0 Oreo Beta?

The following instructions will show you how to setup stock apps into Nougat based Samsung stock firmware updates. The following apps are directly extracted from Samsung’s Oreo Beta. Hence, they are not TWRP flashable zips, and neither can they be installed directly as normal APK. For this to work, you will need to find the location of the particular app or package and replace it with new Oreo Beta package. You will also need to set proper permissions.

For instance, we are going to replace the TouchWiz 8.1 to TouchWiz Home 9.0. You may need root access to get to the packages.

  • Download and copy the new TouchWiz Home 9.0 app to phone’s internal storage.
  • Open a file manager app like ES File Explorer.
  • Go to storage or SD Card section. Go to root directory where you will find the system folder.
  • Go to system/priv-app/TouchWizHome folder.
  • Backup the APK file you see in there. That means create a copy of the original app before you proceed.
  • Copy the new “TouchWizHome_2017.APK” and paste it or replace it with the older TouchWizHome APK from system/priv-app.
  • Now correct permissions or else the app won’t work. Go to properties of the app and change permissions to rw-r-r (0644) and reboot
  • Reboot the device once.

TouchWiz Home 9.0 app from Samsung Experience 9.0 Oreo Beta

If your device enters bootloop or the home app crashes, simply replace the old TouchWiz Home and set correct permissions.

You may also try to wipe cache & dalvik cache from stock recovery. As a last resort, simply restore Samsung device to stock.

  • Extract new S8 Oreo fonts zip.
  • Copy all the new “.ttf” files to system/fonts.set
  • Set correct permissions.
  • Reboot to system.
