There will be two ways for installing the Android 7.0 Nougat.
- Install the update via Updater app.
- Flash full stock firmware using XiaoMiTool.
- Using Mi Flash Tool.
We will discuss all the ways.
How To install the Android Nougat 7.0 update for Redmi Note 4
First, we will see how you can download and install the update as OTA.

Step-1 Download the latest XiaoMiTool from here.
Step-2 Run the XiaoMiTool
Step-3 Connect device to PC via USB cable.
Step-4 Select the desired ROM.
Step-5 Follow on screen procedure.
Also, another way to install the update is by using the Updater Application.
Installing Nougat 7.0 Update for Redmi Note 4 using Updater Application
To use the Updater app,
Step-1 Download the latest MIUI ROM file from above.
Step-2 And place in the internal storage or SDcard and flash it.
Step-3 Rename the downloaded ROM file to ‘update.zip’ on the computer.
Step-4 Transfer the ROM file downloaded to phone’s internal storage.
Step-5 Enter the Recovery mode of your device. Launch ‘Updater’ app on your device, click the ‘…’ icon at the top-right corner, and select ‘Reboot to Recovery mode’ to enter.
Install Nougat 7.0 update for Redmi Note 4 [using MI Flash Tool]
Step-1 Download MIUI flash Tool.
Step-2 If your device is locked, unlock it here.
Step-3 Turn off the device. Press the Volume key and the Power button at the same time to enter Fastboot mode.
Step-4 and then connect the device to the PC via a USB cable.
Step-5 Double click on the downloaded ROM file to decompress it.
Step-6 Open the file folder for the decompressed ROM pack and copy its path on the computer.
Step-7 Decompress the MIUI ROM flashing tool downloaded in Step 1, and double click on it to install (if there is security warning, select ‘Run’).
Step-8 open MiFlash.exe and paste into the address bar the ROM file folder path copied in the last step.
Step-9 Click on the first button (circled out in yellow) to Refresh, and MiFlash should automatically recognize the device.
Step-10 Then click the second button (circled out in red) to flash the ROM file to the device.
Wait until the progress bar inside MiFlash turns fully green, which means the ROM has been successfully installed.
Then your device should automatically boot to the new version.
