Samsung LockStar app just got the biggest update with version 7.0.01.5 for Galaxy devices, now support of One UI 8 (Android 16) The previous update added several customization options including dynamic wallpaper and widget integration. The latest update brings something unexpected — fingerprint unlock effects!
Shortly after the Good Lock 2025 release, all of its modules are now being updated with support to One UI 8. Samsung maintains a separate set of modules that enable even more tweaks for the Galaxy smartphones. These options can be accessed via Good Lock and several of its plugins.
Samsung LockStar Introduces Five New Fingerprint Unlock Effects
Samsung has rolled out an exciting update to LockStar, part of the Good Lock suite for One UI 8 devices, bringing five distinctive fingerprint unlocking effects to enhance user experience. This customization feature allows users to personalize their device unlock animations, adding a fresh visual element to daily interactions.

The new fingerprint effects showcase Samsung’s commitment to user personalization. While community reactions are mixed—some users praise the ripple effect while others find the animations lacking premium quality. In my opinion, more sophisticated effects incorporating blur and frosted glass elements to match One UI 8’s design language would be much better.
The update also addressed the responsive clock functionality issues that were previously reported.
That’s not all, apart from supporting One UI 8 devices, the update also:
- Fixed the issue where the responsive clock was not functioning.
- Improved loading errors for the lock screen widget.
- Corrected the icon display error while using the ‘Extend Unlock’ feature.
