Samsung’s Galaxy S8 series launched in 2017 and in the same year, the manufacturer launched Galaxy Note 8 as well. The 2017 flagships features Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update out of the box and got all updated to latest Android 9 Pie just last year. According to Samsung’s update history, the software support period for any flagship phone is 2 years. That means any phone from the OEM gets 2 major Android OS upgrades. Android 9.0 Pie may very well be the last major update for the S8 and Note 8 while still receiving regular security patches for another year.
