Official Android 9.0 Pie GSI Generic System Image available for Download and Install

Google just released the official build of the latest Android version 9.0 Pie. The OTA update is currently rolling out for several Android devices including OG Pixel, OG Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. This comes after the final Android P Developer Preview 5 that rolled out not so long ago last month. Several manufacturers participated in Android P last month. So Essential Phones, OnePlus, Xiaomi are also rolling out similar update for their flagship phones.

So if you think you have FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), then don’t worry, we have got you covered. The latest Android 9.0 Pie GSI builds (Generic System Images) are now available for download. Google has already uploaded the AOSP source on the developer site. Thanks to developer erfanoabdi, we now have the first Android P 9.0 Pie Project Treble ROM.

This is the same developer who brought the first build of Android P DP for all the Project Treble supported devices. You can flash this Android 9.0 Pie AOSP GSI onto fully Treble Android device. We already know that there are several Android devices out there with either official or unofficial Project Treble port. So download the GSI and flash it.

Download Android 9.0 Pie GSI – AOSP PPR1 Generic System Image

The latest Android 9.0 Pie comes with build number PPR1.180610.009 or PPR1.180610.010. Here is the same PPR1 AOSP Android P GSI available for download.

Following is the latest GSI based on the latest Android P Developer Preview 3 or (Beta 2). Moreover, it is an unofficial build. So it is for experimental purposes only.

In order to flash this build, all you need to do is simply extract .img from .xzformat and flash via TWRP recovery or Fastboot mode. The second build listed here does not boot for some devices. We will upload more builds soon. Thanks to gg pew.

This is another popular AOSP Android 9 Pie ROMS by the same develoepr who brought us the Android 8.1 Oreo GSI ROMS based on AOSP, Lineage OS, and Resurrection Remix.

How to install AOSP GSi by phhusson?

• Flash a Treble ROM first (GSI only works with 8.1 vendor).
• Extract p-gsi-built.zip and flash system.imgvia TWRP or Fastboot mode.
• Flash p-boot-other-fixes.zip, wifi fix, POST-sGSI_boot-patch.zip (from the erfanoabdi bootpatcher from p semi-gsi)
• Reboot to system.

How to Install Android 9.0 Pie GSI on Project Treble devices?

Step 1: First, make sure you have installed a Project Treble ROM on your Android device. Some of the devices this Android P GSI has been tested and Project Treble support is enabled either officially or unofficially are listed below. Check the list and proceed with following tutorial.

Step 2: So first check if your device has Project Treble Support using this app.

Note: Generally, Mokee ROM (latest nightly) may come with unofficial Project Treble support for your device.

Step 4: You can simply download the Android P GSI and flash it using a custom TWRP recovery or Fastboot mode on Treble supported Android device. See the brief tutorial.

Now, for A-Only:

• Download the latest Android P GSI to phone storage.
• Extract the zip to get Android P GSI zip.
• Reboot to TWRP recovery.
• Extract and flash P-sGSI-Aonly.zip to system.
• Mount vendor in TWRP.
• Flash POST-sGSI zips from 1 to 3 in priority
• Reboot to system.

Now for AB :

• Download the latest Android P GSI to phone storage.
• Extract the zip to get Android P GSI zip.
• Flash P-sGSI-AB.zip to system.
• Mount vendor in TWRP
• Flash POST-sGSI zips from 1 to 3 in priority.
• From Tools, flash Permissiver.zip and FBE_Disabler.zip.
• If your device was encrypted, then go to Wipe and “format data”.
• Reboot to system.
