The hype train has already arrived at the Android town with lots of buzz regarding the upcoming Google Pixel 2. And we are expecting a tough market acquiring chase between Google Pixel 2 and other upcoming and fresh flagships like Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 to name a few. And getting the attention of users is not easy when the user is not the usual run of the mill type. What we want to say is creating a hype and sticking to it are two different things. Google Pixel 2 is not the only device to roll out. There will be another device which is the Google Pixel 2 XL, which is more like a sister device. Now Google Pixel 2 did create the buzz when news spread that it will roll with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Then it will be first of those devices to feature the 8.0 Oreo.
And the most noteworthy fact here is Google does not manufacture its devices. Yes ! the Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC and Pixel 2 XL will be assembled by LG respectively. So, come let’s take a look at what the hyped flagship promises to bring for it’s users.
Google Pixel 2 tentative Global Release Date
Although there is no such slated date as of now, Pixel 2 is believed to be unveiled on 5th October 2017. And this info comes from none other than the Android community’s very own leaker Evan Blass. This is what he has to say.
What’s New: Google Pixel 2
Let’s take a round of what the expected specs and new features we can expect out of this 2nd generation flagship by Google.
Well, if You take a look at the tweet of Evan above, You can very well see he mentions about a certain Snapdragon 836 by Qualcomm of course. Now we all know the most powerful processor currently is Snapdragon 835 which is sported by all major flagships out there. So, we can expect something extra from the Google Pixel 2 this time. But the plot twist remains that some other sources have claimed that contrary to Evan’s info the upcoming Pixel devices are going to stick with the Snapdragon 835. But Evan prefers to stand by his claim.
And we guess even if it is Snapdragon 836, it will bring in some minor enhancements to the device maybe. Waiting and watching is all we can do as of now.
The expected internal storage capacity is hovering around 64GB to that of 128GB. We think it might land as different variants of the same model (Remember One Plus 5..!! ). And again like there will be two devices so, may be the Pixel 2 XL will sport 128 GB memory and Pixel 2 will settle for 64GB.
And the RAM is believed to be of 4GB and 6GB.
Well cutting straight to the chase, it is rumored that the Pixel 2nd generation devices will sport Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Let’s wait and see how true this hype stands in the coming days.
We mentioned about two devices being slated to be released. And the two variants are going to be differentiated by the size of the display. Pixel 2 XLhas a slim and sleek bezel design with a 5.99-inches, 1440p OLED display. The Pixel 2 is slightly big in size and comes with bottom bezels. And it has a 4.97-inch 1080p OLED display. Both are believed to have squeezable frames like the HTC U11. Also, Corning Gorilla glass V5 is expected to provide screen guard.
The 2nd gen devices by Google are also rumored to be water and dust resistant. It is expected to be either IP67 or IP68 rated. Same was not the case with the earlier Pixel and Pixel XL devices.
So, that’s an enhancement to look forward to.
The camera is believed to be close to that of original Pixel devices. The rear camera is believed to be of 12 MP along with a front face counterpart of 7MP. It is also said to support 4K recording. There is no speculation about the dual camera, so we can strike that off for now.
This feature has been a basic staple for every flagship we come across. It is believed that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL might have rear facing finger print sensor.
No 3.5 mm Headphone Jack
Well, it’s a no brainer that following the footsteps of iPhone 7 by Apple, high-end flagships are ditching this feature of the audio jack. So the same is also expected from the upcoming Google flagship duo.
Well, we can expect the price of a flagship with these kinds of advanced features. Earlier Pixel and Pixel XL were priced at $649 and $749 respectively. So, the upcoming second generation flagships can be expected at a similar or higher price range.
Therefore, these were some of the latest talks regarding the specs, price and release date of the upcoming Google Pixel 2. Only in the coming time, we will know if the flagship duo from Google will stand true to the hype they’ve created so far. Till then stay connected with us for more updates regarding Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL.
