MIUI 8 Download Repository for all compatible Android Devices

One of the most popular Android OS is the MIUI ROM that comes in stock with the Xiaomi devices. The reason that MIUI is popular is that it can be ported onto most other Android phones; just like the CyanogenMod 12.1/13/14.1. This can’t be done with firmware from other manufacturers like Samsung (TouchWiz), LG, Sony, etc. However now, the MIUI has been updated to a newer version 8, thus getting its name, MIUI 8. The MIUI 8 is based on the newer Android 6.0.1. Though Xiaomi and MIUI development team is looking forward to releasing an Android 7.0 Nougat update as well. However, it may take some time for the device to receive it.

The official MIUI 8 builds are not ye available for Android devices outside Xiaomi range. These are unofficial builds and come as custom ROMS. Hence, you will need a rooted, TWRP installed and bootloader unlocked Android device. These are the minimum requirements for almost all custom ROMS. We have captured most of the MIUI 8 supported ROMS for various phones and we will keep updating this as we get support for more. Earlier we also brought to you the official CyanogenMod 14.1 for various smartphones.

MIUI 8 custom ROM Installation via TWRP

Here are brief instructions to install custom ROM via TWRP. For a full tutorial, go to How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP?

Step 1: Download the MIUI 8 ROM from above. If you are looking for root after installation, check out the SuperSU section below.

Step 2: Transfer all the necessary files to you device’s internal storage or SDcard.

Step 3: Boot into TWRP recovery. To do so, turn off your device completely and then press and hold the power button and volume down key for a few seconds. Alternatively, if you have root, then use an android app like Quick boot or Boot Smart.

Step 4: Once into TWRP, take a Nandroid backup. Backup all the partitions including the system, data, boot, recovery, EFS and cache(optional).

Step 5: Now wipe the current system. To do so, return to home screen and tap the Wipe option in TWRP. Tap Advanced Wipe and select partitions like system, boot, data, cache, Dalvik cache. Do not, in any case, select internal storage, unless you know what you are doing.

Step 6: Return to the home screen again and tap Install option. Navigate to the MIUI 8 ROM file in your internal storage and select it.

Step 7: Now swipe right on the confirmation action button below to install the ROM.

Step 8: Once installation completes, you can wipe the Dalvik cache or simply choose reboot to system option.

For gapps installation check out the Gapps section above. Once you reboot, you should see the new MIUI 8 logo. First boot may take a while. If the ROM doesn’t boot or you come across boot loop, a factory reset from the recovery should do the trick. If that fails, you can restore our previous ROM from the TWRP recovery.
