Earlier this month, HTC announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for some of its premium devices including the HTC One M8 and HTC One M9. However, now the AT&T carrier has released the stock RUU firmware file for the same. Yes, the HTC website has officially displayed the AT&T firmware files for AT&T HTC one M9 and the M8 devices. This is a good news for those who were having trouble updating their devices over the air or have not yet received a FOTA HTC upgrade notification. The RUU for the AT&T M8 weighs around 1.6 GB and that for the M9 weighs a whopping 2.2 GB. This HTC maintenance release firmware come with the build number 3.38.502.12 for the HTC One M9 and the firmware version 6.20.502.5 for the M8. These RUU will restore your device to full stock firmware and restore the device to OEM. You will lose all the changes made to your device like root, custom recovery and also wipe the data, app, etc. Hence, it is highly recommended to backup if you want to install the RUU. If you want the OTA update, navigate to the Home screen then tap All apps > Settings > About and locate the Software version. If your Software number is less than the listed one then you should proceed with the upgrade.
