Free Fire OB52 Update: Jujutsu Kaisen Collaboration Brings Game-Changing Features
The highly anticipated OB52 update for Garena Free Fire has arrived, and it’s packed with exciting new content that will revolutionize your gameplay experience. This massive update introduces an electrifying Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration, comprehensive system overhauls, and balance adjustments that will reshape the meta. Let’s dive deep into everything this update has to offer.
Jujutsu Awakening: The Cursed Energy Revolution
The centerpiece of OB52 is the groundbreaking Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration event, which seamlessly integrates the anime’s iconic abilities into Free Fire’s Battle Royale experience. This isn’t just a cosmetic crossover—it fundamentally changes how you approach combat.
Cursed Energy System Mechanics
Players will encounter Cursed Energy piles scattered across every map. Simply moving near these piles automatically collects energy, with some piles regenerating over time. You can also earn Cursed Energy by eliminating opponents or purchasing it from vending machines, creating multiple strategic paths to power.
Unlockable Jujutsu Techniques
The update introduces six powerful techniques that can turn the tide of battle:
Divergent Fist (100 Cursed Energy) channels Yuji Itadori’s signature move, allowing you to dash forward and deliver devastating double impacts of 30 damage each. This technique can even destroy up to three Gloo Walls in its path, making it perfect for aggressive pushes.
Hollow Purple (100 Cursed Energy) brings Satoru Gojo’s most iconic technique to life. This ground-traveling projectile ignores buildings and cover, dealing 70 damage and knocking back enemies while destroying Gloo Walls along its 80-meter path. It culminates in a final explosion dealing an additional 40 damage.
Unlimited Void (400 Cursed Energy total) represents the ultimate Domain Expansion experience. After spending 300 Cursed Energy on other abilities, you can unlock this game-changing technique for an additional 100 energy. It pulls a single enemy into a one-versus-one duel where you’re restored to full HP, gain a 5% movement speed bonus, and receive 30 extra Shield Points. The domain lasts 30 seconds, but the duel ends immediately when someone wins—with the loser eliminated instantly.
Malevolent Shrine (400 Cursed Energy total) delivers Ryomen Sukuna’s devastating Domain Expansion. This creates a 10-meter radius crimson sky that deals 5 damage every half-second to all enemies inside and obliterates enemy Gloo Walls at 400 damage per second for 15 seconds.
Ember Insects (100 Cursed Energy) summons Jogo’s heat-seeking technique. These tracking projectiles automatically pursue the nearest enemy, exploding on impact for 25 damage and leaving a burning zone that deals 5 damage per second for three seconds.
Kugisaki’s Hammer introduces the game’s first upgradable Cursed Tool. Starting at Level 1 for 50 Cursed Energy, you can upgrade it to Level 2 for another 50 energy and Level 3 for 100 energy, creating a powerful unlimited-ammo weapon option.
Unlocking all jujutsu techniques grants a 10% cooldown reduction across the board, rewarding players who fully commit to the Cursed Energy system.
Bermuda High School Transformation
Peak on Bermuda has been completely renovated into Bermuda High School, creating an immersive themed environment that brings the Jujutsu Kaisen atmosphere directly into Free Fire. This transformation extends to Clash Squad mode as well, ensuring the collaboration feels integrated across game modes.
Battle Royale Evolution: Strategic Depth Meets Tactical Innovation
Beyond the collaboration content, OB52 introduces fundamental changes to Battle Royale that address long-standing player feedback while adding fresh strategic layers.
Breakable Arsenal System
The Arsenal mechanic receives a dramatic overhaul. Players can now forcibly break the reinforced glass to access high-tier weapons without paying, but there’s a significant trade-off: breaking in triggers a UAV that reveals your position to all enemies on the map.
The Arsenal weapon pool has been updated with more powerful options. Standard Arsenals now feature infinite-ammo Groza, AWM, and Thompson, alongside MAC10-II, M1014-II, and M14-II. Upgraded Arsenals include the same infinite-ammo trio plus FAMAS, Charge Buster, and M79 on middle racks, with side racks potentially holding Kar98k, FAMAS, M60-III, Winchester-III, M4A1-III, SCAR-III, or MP5-III.
The upgrade and unlock price has been reduced from 1,500 to 1,200 FF Coins, and each standard Arsenal now includes four Level 3 Backpacks, making legitimate access more affordable while the forced-entry option adds risk-reward decision-making.
Ultra Airdrop: High-Risk, High-Reward Gameplay
Four hundred seconds into each match, an Ultra Airdrop descends onto the map, creating a new late-game hotspot. This capture-based objective reveals your location on the minimap while you’re claiming it, but crystal pillars rise around the beacon that you can shoot to accelerate the capture process.
Successfully claiming an Ultra Airdrop grants game-changing rewards: Ultra Helmet and Vest provide superior protection compared to Level 4 armor, and their durability never drops below 25%. Most importantly, capturing it instantly revives all eliminated teammates, potentially allowing a squad to mount a dramatic comeback.
Revamped Revival System
The revival system has been completely redesigned to reduce early-game frustration and encourage more aggressive play.
Solo Mode Changes:
- Revival Points remain available until 610 seconds into the match
- Players receive one-time early revival protection
- Capturing a Revival Point for 25 seconds grants a Revival Card that automatically activates upon elimination
- Time-based starter gear ensures you’re never completely helpless when reviving:
- 0-200 seconds: UZI, 6 Med Kits, 2 Inhalers, Level 1 Helmet and Vest, Level 2 Backpack
- 200-400 seconds: MAC10-I with Level 2 Helmet and Vest
- 400+ seconds: MAC10-II with Level 2 Helmet and Vest
Duo/Squad Mode Changes:
- Teams must land near each other to activate the revival system
- When a squad member is eliminated within the first 180 seconds, the team can trigger a 60-second countdown
- If the countdown completes, all previously eliminated teammates revive simultaneously
- This one-time team revival creates intense moments where protecting your last standing teammate becomes crucial
The spectator mode now includes a “revive assist” feature, allowing eliminated players to grant their teammate a special discount on Revival Card purchases, along with special buffs for successfully buying cards.
Enhanced Team Communication
New visual and audio alerts ensure you never miss when a teammate is downed or eliminated. Stronger visual effects, grayed-out portraits in the team panel, and distinctive audio cues all work together to improve team awareness during chaotic firefights.
Vehicle Speed Boost
Vehicles now feature a brief speed burst ability, helping you quickly escape danger zones or reach objectives faster. Additional vehicle optimizations include immediate explosion when HP reaches zero, reduced post-explosion burn effects that no longer damage players, and improved jeep wreck models that serve as better cover.
Rating Medals and Bonus Rank Points
Performance-based rewards come to Battle Royale. Your rating displays during matches, increasing through team-oriented actions like assisting teammates, eliminating enemies, unlocking arsenals, and using loadouts. Special animations trigger as your rating rises.
Reaching certain rating thresholds earns Silver or Gold medals, which grant extra rank points. Earning multiple medals consecutively can even trigger rank jumps, allowing skilled players to climb the competitive ladder faster.
Clash Squad Refinements
The four-versus-four competitive mode receives meaningful improvements focused on the Cyber Airdrop system and weapon accessibility.
Cyber Airdrop Two-Stage System
Cyber Airdrops now feature two capture stages with shared progress between teams. When progress reaches the first stage, all players within the capture area receive rewards. All players inside the capture zone gain a damage reduction buff, but only the player who unlocks the second stage keeps the buff for the remainder of the round.
The Jujutsu Kaisen abilities—Hollow Purple, Divergent Fist, Ember Insects, Malevolent Shrine, and Unlimited Void—are all available through the CS Store and Cyber Airdrops. When the new season begins on February 1st, Cursed Tools including Kugisaki’s Hammer Level 3 will appear in the store.
Discounted Weapons System
The CS Store now randomly offers weapons at discounted prices, adding a new layer of economic strategy to loadout decisions. This creates opportunities for budget-conscious plays or allows you to invest more heavily in utilities and abilities.
Neon City: A New Dimension of Mobility
The mysterious Neon City represents a bold new approach to map traversal. Four Rift Portals appear on every map, teleporting players to this nighttime metropolis hidden in dimensional rifts.
Inside Neon City, players cannot engage in combat and can only stay for 30 seconds before being returned to their original position. However, the city contains multiple portals that enable instant fast travel to different areas of the map, opening up entirely new rotation strategies and escape options.
Character Updates: New Additions and Balance Refinements
Morse: The Untraceable Infiltrator
OB52 introduces Morse, a new character designed for flanking specialists. His active skill, Stealth Bytes, enters Stealth Mode for up to 15 seconds. During this time, enemies beyond 16 meters cannot see you, you cannot be detected by scanning abilities, and you gain a 20% speed boost. Aim assist triggers if enemies come within 4 meters.
While stealthed, you cannot fire, and exiting Stealth has a one-second delay. The cooldown is 45 seconds. In Clash Squad, Morse excels at flanking opponents, while in Battle Royale, you can drive vehicles, revive teammates, and shop at Vending Machines without being noticed—perfect for support players who want to operate behind enemy lines.
Character Balance Adjustments
Tatsuya’s Rebel Rush receives significant changes. Previously, his cooldown reset on any knockdown, making him overpowered for securing key positions without consequence. Now, the skill only resets if you score a knockdown within 10 seconds of activation, focusing his strength on combat chaining rather than mobility abuse. The base cooldown decreases from 120 to 90 seconds to compensate.
Wukong’s Camouflage follows similar logic. The skill now only resets when taking down an enemy within 10 seconds after release, and the base cooldown drops from 120 to 90 seconds.
Xayne’s Xtreme Encounter gets a substantial buff. The temporary Shield Points increase from 50 to 70, and the duration extends from 12 to 15 seconds. Each knockdown now restores Shield Points to 70 and resets the duration, making her more competitive among Rusher characters.
Weapon Meta Transformation
Tier System Expansion
The weapon tier visualization expands from three colors to five, providing clearer communication about weapon strength at a glance:
- White: Ground loot weapons and Level 0 upgradable weapons
- Light Gold: Level 1 upgradable weapons
- Gold: Level 2 upgradable weapons and special weapons like M79
- Light Red: Regular Airdrop weapons and Level 3 upgradable weapons
- Red: Advanced Airdrop weapons like Groza-X
Explosive Weapon Nerfs
Explosive weapons have become too prevalent, creating chaotic fights and diminishing the reliability of Gloo Walls. The FGL24 and RGS50 both see magazine capacity reduced from 3 to 2. The M590 receives a unique adjustment: 10% damage increase and 10% range decrease, with the splash effect completely removed.
Upgradable Weapon Changes
The Kar98k and FAMAS have their upgrade mechanisms removed entirely. Both weapons now use the same attributes as their Level 3 variants by default, simplifying the weapon pool while maintaining power levels.
The MAC10 series receives a significant buff across all tiers: 8% damage increase and 15% accuracy improvement, potentially making it a meta contender.
Airdrop Weapon Buffs
To restore the prestige of airdrop weapons, several receive meaningful buffs:
- Groza/Groza-X: 3% damage, 10% armor penetration, 8% range
- SVD/SVD-Y: 20% accuracy
- M249/M249-X: 5% rate of fire, 5% armor penetration
- Thompson/Thompson-X: 5% rate of fire
Other Weapon Adjustments
The VSS gains 10% armor penetration and 5% accuracy, improving its effectiveness as a suppressed option.
The Heal Pistol undergoes a complete rework: it now auto-targets teammates with 30% increased rate of fire, but healing is reduced by 50%. Healing energy recovery speed increases by 50% while energy cost decreases by 50%. The Heal Pistol-Y variant can simultaneously heal up to two teammates.
