It is now time to optimize the watch software with monthly security updates. Galaxy Watch 4 (BT) (LTE) (Classic), Galaxy Watch 5, and Watch 5 Pro are now receiving their first OTA update with December 2023 security patch after One UI 5 Watch OS.
As for what’s new, the patch notes doesn’t say much except security, stability and reliability update. Although the update may not look much, just a security patch bump to December 2023, users can expect many under-the-hood improvements in areas like battery life, smoothness of firmware, and updates Samsung apps and features. The OTA weighs a whopping 517 MB in size.
The build number for Watch 4 is HWL1 and the build for Watch 5 is BWL1.
One UI 5 Watch update with Wear OS 4
Samsung published an article with the title — “Samsung Brings the Latest Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5, Tab S9 Series and Watch6 Series Experiences to Previous Devices” — featuring Watch 6 features that have been baked into the One UI 5 Watch update.

One UI Watch 5 OS is based on Android 13. This is a direct jump from Android 11 to 13, skipping the 12. You will also see Google Wear OS 4 features in the upcoming updates.
