Following Huawei’s Oreo Beta program, a lot of the manufacturer’s products are receiving the latest Android 8.0 firmware upgrade. Devices like Huawei Mate 9 (Pro), Honor 9, etc. are already on EMUI 8.0 Beta. It is now time to upgrade the Huawei P10, P10 Plus, and P10 Lite. These former flagships are now receiving EMUI 8.0.0 based Android 8.0 Oreo firmware upgrade. It brings all the latest EMUI 8.0.0 apps, features, user interface, new Oreo firmware. Soon other manufacturer devices such as the P9, P9 Plus, etc. will receive the update soon. So download and install the EMUI 8.0 Oreo firmware onto Huawei P10 series devices.

If you are looking forward to flashing the EMUI 8.0 firmware onto other devices, then you can do so by converting your device variant to the former. Unfortunately, the Huawei P10 Lite (WAS-LX1A) did not receive EMUI 8.0 Beta Program. You will have to wait until April 2018 to enroll into Huawei Oreo Beta Program again.

How to install Android 8.0 Oreo EMUI 8.0.0 onto Huawei P10 or P10 Plus?

Requirements:

  1. Your Huawei device must have an Unlocked Bootloader. You can register here for unlock code: Register for Unlock Code. Visit this tutorial to unlock the bootloader.
  2. Your device must be rooted with latest TWRP recovery. Flash the latest Magisk v16.2+.

  4. Installing firmware manually can be risky. We won’t be responsible for any damage. Proceed at your own risk.

Installation instructions:

  • The above-listed files are filled Oreo TWRP flashable packages.
  • Download Oreo firmware files from above.
  • Transfer them to device storage.
  • Reboot into TWRP recovery,
  • Take a full backup.
  • Factory reset.
  • Flash the Oreo firmware zip.

How to update Huawei P10 VTR-L09 and VTR-L29 to Android 8.0 Oreo EMUI 8.0.0 update?

First, go through the requirements of above method.

Note 1: If you would like to install TWRP, then Reboot into Bootloader mode, then Download HWOTA_VTR.zip file, extract the zip and run the file update.bat as an administrator.

Installation instructions

  • Download the Oreo upgrade from requirements and transfer it to PC or phone storage.
  • Extract the zip onto your PC or your phone’s SD Card.
  • Download the three update, data, and public files and transfer them to the extracted folder of Oreo upgrade. In PC it should be under Oreo upgrade folder.
  • Again compress the Oreo upgrade zip.
  • Reboot Huawei device into TWRP recovery. To do so, turn off your PC and then press and hold Volume Down + Power keys.
  • From TWRP, take a full Nandroid backup.
  • Now tap on install will install TWRP on your device.
  • Let the installation begin.
  • Reboot into the system.
