How to Download and Install August 2017 Security patch for Galaxy Note 4?

There are basically two ways to install the August 2017 security patch updates on Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The first one is to download OTA(Over the air) update and install it via stock recovery. And the second way is to directly download the firmware from Samsung servers and restore the device to complete stock via latest Odin Tool.

Also, the OTA is rolling out in waves. So not every device will receive the update right now. You can use the alternative Odin firmware flash method for that.

Steps of Installing the Update Using Odin Tool

Step 1: Make sure your Note 4 device is running stock firmware.

Step 2: Note down the exact model number and the CSC code or the region it belongs to.

Step 3: Download the latest full stock firmware for your particular device from Samsung Servers to PC.

Step 4: Download and run the latest Odin tool on PC as administrator.

Step 5:  And then reboot the device into Download Mode or Odin mode.

Step 6: Connect your device to PC via a USB cable.

Step 7: Extract the Galaxy Note 4 stock firmware zip to get the TAR file.

Step 8: Add the firmware to [AP] slot.

Step 9: Now, start the upgrade.

Step 10: And finally reboot to the system.
