OnePlus promised the latest flagship phones to roll out an official Oxygen OS update and 2 Open Beta updates every month. The stable Oxygen OS is being updated to v4.1.5. This is a huge update with many optimizations including Bluetooth, Network, GPS, Battery, WiFi, Proximity sensor, Camera low light focus, and Expanded screenshot. Though the firmware is still based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and not the latest 7.1.2 Nougat, the security patches have been updated to May 2017. Oxygen OS 4.1.5 could be termed as a stable update with many bug fixes.

Network update brings fixes for carrier selection, VOLTE drop on Jio SIM cards, Android Auto, etc. A new feature has been added to the firmware to push system messages directly from OnePlus. What did we expect?

The new OTA update should have brought touch latency fix. The Open Betas have already received it. The Beta updates are far more stable than the official stable Oxygen OS 4.1.4. There are several features that exist in the Open Beta 17/8 which are absent in the stable ones.

The OTA update is rolling out across the globe regionally. The OTA is currently active in some parts of Europe like Germany and Canada. Other countries in Asia like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. need to wait.

How to download and install OnePlus 3 OTA updates manually?

  • Download and install the Opera VPN APK from Play Store.
  • Open the VPN app.
  • Change location to Germany or Canada.
  • Go to Settings>System Updates.
  • Check for updates.
  • Download and install the OTA update.
