Nothing Phone 1 made its debut earlier this year with a splash. The phone has received quite some criticism and feedback from the Android community. However, the company has been taking in feedback positively and delivering new software updates. We have seen three OTA updates so far. Here is the biggest software update for Nothing Phone 1 with build Nothing OS 1.1.4.

Nothing Phone has received two critical updates and a major update. The previous Nothing OS 1.1.3 was a major firmware upgrade with two new features, tons of camera app improvements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.

The latest Nothing OS 1.1.4 features huge camera improvements, added 3 new features, latest security patch level, several system improvements, and tons of bug fixes.

To be precise, the camera app adds a new option for Nothing watermark to photos. The firm also improved ultra-wide camera colour calibration and increased colour consistency between main and ultra-wide sensors. Improved stability while capturing moving objects. Increased shooting speed when using HDR in ultra-wide mode.

As for the new features, Nothing OS 1.1.4 adds the option to flip the 3-button navigation bar. All Ear (1) app features are now integrated into Nothing OS. You can now customize gesture controls and switch Noise Cancellation modes directly from Quick Settings and Settings. The phone now supports LHDC high-def audio.

How to Install Nothing Phone 1 OTA Update?

You can Nothing Phone by installing Nothing OS OTA update zips manually via ADB sideload method or recovery method. See the tutorial on How to install OTA updates on any Android device?

Install OTA using Local Upgrade method

• Create a folder named “ota” (without the quotes) at the root of the internal storage. Meaning outside every folder.
• Copy the OTA update ZIP file from above to that folder.
• Open the phone app and Dial ##682##
• This should launch an offline update tool.
• The tool will scan for an OTA file from internal storage and install it.
• If that fails, you can manually browse for the OTA package.
• After selecting the OTA file, the wizard will apply the update.
• Reboot the device and you are on the latest firmware.

You can also use the Activity Launcher app or QuickShortcutMaker to locate and execute the “OfflineOTAUpgrade” tool.

The package name you should be looking for is com.nothing.OfflineOTAUpgradeApp.

How to Change Region of Nothing Phone 1?

You can easily control the regional setting of your Phone(1) by going to your Shell terminal or Android emulator (e.g. Fuss) and executing the following command:

• This command will return “SpacewarEEA” if the device is delivered with European firmware.
• For International models, the result should be “Spacewar” only.
