Last month, OnePlus released a stable OxygenOS 12 firmware upgrade for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, 8T, and the OnePlus 9R based on Android 12. Today, the firm released yet another stable Oxygen OS 12-based C.15 OTA update featuring critical bug fixes and stability improvements.

The OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R have all received the new C.15 OTA update featuring Android 12. Itโ€™s a hotfix software update that resolves some critical issues and improves the overall user experience.

As for the changes, the current version increases charging speed, enhances calling quality, and addresses a Face Unlock glitch. The OTA also brings the Android security patch level to March 2022. Check out the complete changelog from below.

Known issues

  1. The clock displays smaller. You can try to adjust it manually or delete it and add the clock widget again
  2. Phone application may be replaced by Contacts in Dock. You can adjust it manually to move Phone application in the right place

How to install Oxygen OS 12 full stock firmware onto OnePlus 8 series?

Most of the above-listed updates are incremental OTA updates. Meaning, you need to be on the previous Oxygen OS 11 firmware and install the OTA zip via stock recovery or via adb commands.

Alternatively, for full updates, do the following:

MP and OBT to DP upgrade guideโ€”via Local OTA Update

Note: This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.

  1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> Upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. Update successful.

Downgrade to Android 11 via rollback package on OnePlus 8 series

How to downgrade?

For users who have already upgraded to this OxygenOS 12 stable firmware, can rollback can download the full firmware from the downgrade section and install via this apk. With it, you can choose to rollback. It will open automatically after being installed, then you just need to click the button on the top right corner, to select the upgrade file as mentioned in step 3 of the instructions above.

  1. Download the suitable rollback package from the links below.
  2. Copy the Rollback package to the phone storage.
  3. Install this apk. Youโ€™ll need it to roll back. Then, open the โ€œMyApplication2โ€ app -> tap LOCAL UPGRADE, then enter the Recent page -> tap the top-left menu icon -> chose your phone model -> find the downgrade package and tap -> then will jump to another page and have an Installation options alert, tap INSTALL NOW -> wait to finish the installation -> tap rebootโ€‹โ€‹
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. Rollback successful.
