Downgrade to OnePlus OxygenOs 11 on OnePlus 8 8 Pro and 8T

The popular OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and the 8T phones just recently received stable Android 12 update based on Oxygen OS 12 firmware. However, the update wasnโ€™t quite liked by the OnePlus community since the new software is full of bugs. Some users also claim that OxygenOS 12 is a half-baked OS.

After just a couple of Open Beta updates, OnePlus released the stable version of OxygenOS 12. The OEM did not do extensive testing for the OnePlus 8 series. Hence, the latest Android 12 update is full of bugs.

The OnePlus 8 series forum threads are full of complaints too. One OnePlus community user here said, โ€œThey have really messed up the update man fast charging shouldnโ€™t even be called fast anymore.โ€ Another user named Jvinas has to say this in his/herโ€™s comment, โ€œHi. Do not install the update. At least for now. Stay on Oxygen OS 11. When I updated, I lost access to 5G and VoLTE, and VoWI-Fi. If these technologies are working for you now on Oxygen OS 11. Do not update to OS 12.โ€

Seems like the stable Android 12 update isnโ€™t quite stable just yet. The most common issues are related to battery drain, low SOT, Ambient display, performance issues, and more.

A lot of users are just beginning to receive OTA updates. It is advised to wait for a couple of more HotFix OTA updates in the coming days. If you have already upgraded to OxygenOS 12, you may want to rollback to a more stable Oxygen OS 11 firmware based on Android 11.

Here is how to downgrade from the Oxygen OS 12 for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T to Android 11 without losing data. The easiest solution is to download the downgrade package from below and install using the Local upgrade method.

can’t find the ‘backup’ utility on the phone. `OnePlus Switch` is renamed to `Clone Phone` and this does only offer cloning of phones. No option nowhere to do backup. OnePlus really sucks.

      Hi,
These are official download links that come from OnePlus servers. If you check the domain name, you will see it comes from oxygenos[dot]oneplus[dot]net. This is called a sub-domain which is specifically for seeding firmware updates. If you visit the parent domain onepus[dot]net, it is browsable. Note that it will redirect to your region’s primary domain.

The Euro version OnePlus8Oxygen_15.E.40_GLO_0400_2110091932 is locked!
During the restore process it asks for a password or a google account to finish the restore!

    What is the password?
