Download First Windows 11 Update With Build 22000.258 KB5006674

Windows 11 has only been out for a week, yet it has already received its first round of updates. Microsoft, under Patch Tuesday, released a new Windows 11 update with October security patch update — KB5006674 and OS Build 22000.258. Every second Tuesday of the month, all supported Microsoft products, including Windows 11, receive an update.

Microsoft published Windows 11 build 22000.194 to the Beta channel over a month ago, and it was pushed to the Release Preview channel a week later on September 23. Windows 11 has been here for a while now and we have covered all of the progress in our previous posts including the newer Dev Channel.

This is the first update for Windows 11 that has been released to the general public, and it is available to both Beta and Release Preview users at the same time. Because the bug fixes are very small, there are likely some modifications that aren’t listed in the changelog.

The newest update is KB5006674, and it brings the Windows 11 build number to 22000.258. You can manually download it from the Microsoft Update Catalog or download the full ISO from below. The highlight is only that it updates security, but the list of fixes is a bit more detailed.

Addresses known compatibility issues between some Intel “Killer” and “SmartByte” networking software and Windows 11 (original release). Devices with the affected software might drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other issues for protocols based on UDP. For example, some websites might load slower than others on the affected devices, which might cause videos to stream slower in certain resolutions. VPN solutions based on UDP might also be slower.

Although Microsoft claims that there are no known difficulties with the update, this does not rule out the possibility of complications with Windows 11. Only one of the three reported issues was resolved in this version, according to the company’s separate list.

Updates for Windows 11 will continue to function the same way they did for Windows 10. Every Patch Tuesday, you’ll notice another obligatory cumulative update, which will install automatically if you don’t take the time to do it yourself. Optional C and D week updates will be available but will not be installed automatically.
