OnePlus 8 Pro

Google recently released Android 11 public beta 2 for the Pixel series. When the first public beta released, OnePlus immediately compiled the latest AOSP 11 sources for their latest flagships. Today, we are getting a second update to this Android 11 firmware for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. This is still the stock AOSP based ROM. So it may not come with all the OnePlus stock apps. The beta 2 is still just a test build. You can also try the latest Android 11 GSI builds if you will.

OnePlus just published a blog post on their forums titled โ€œAndroid 11 Developer Preview 2 for OnePlus 8 Seriesโ€. It is still stock AOSP based ROM. The manufacturer will soon come up with their own Android OS skin called Oxygen OS 11 once Google releases stable Android 11 to everyone. At this point integrating Oxygen OS into Android 11 beta doesnโ€™t make sense. This is because Google may bring a lot of changes before the stable one gets released in a couple of months. Meanwhile, download Android 11 public beta 2 for OnePlus.

Android 11 features better user privacy protections, advanced app permissions, speech balloon Bubbles, Bubbles API, new Pixel Launcher, Pinhole, waterfall screens support, camera native image decoder and new camera features, up pointing backhand index Biometrics, support for 5G and Foldable phones. We can expect the latest July 2020 security patch with this update and several bug fixes. You can read about all the beta 2 changes from Androidโ€™s blogpost here.
