Delayed Notification or No Notification fix for Android, also no Gmail notification fix

Google released Android 12 this year along with two new Pixel 6 smartphones. Ever since Android 10 introduced Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, Adaptive Notifications, etc. things have been going downhill due to poor implementation. On top of that, Android 12 features an aggressive RAM management system. While these features may be implemented with good intentions, it does not create a good environment for some users. Problems such as delayed notifications or even missing notifications occur if the adaptive features just kill the app with the aggressive RAM management service.

How to fix delayed notifications or no notifications on Android devcies?

  1. Unlock yourย Androidย phone or tablet.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Go to Apps.
  4. In the top right corner, tap on the 3 vertical Dots for Menu.
  5. Select Special Access.
  6. Search for Adaptive Notifications.
  7. Set it to None.
  8. Reboot your phone once.

Note that these instructions are for Samsung stock firmware. For other Android devices, the procedure is the same but the names may change. But you should find the settings there.

Alternatively, there could be other factors causing the no notification or missing notification for some apps. If you are missing notifications only for select apps like Gmail, then there is a simple fix for that. You may want to reset the app. Donโ€™t worry, you wonโ€™t lose any data.

But first, if you are missing notifications for a number of apps, it may be that you have set the settings to priority mode under settings -> Notifications. OR just disabled the notifications accident. Here is how to enable notifications for apps.

Go to  Settings -> Apps  -> Search for the app  -> Select the app  -> Notifications  -> Enable

On Samsung phones, the Power Mode other than High Performance may cause some delays to save battery. So act on it accordingly.  Also, remove the apps from โ€œoptimized for battery usageโ€. If that does not work, then do the following.

Reset app to fix no notifications on Gmail for Android

Here is the final solution to fix no notifications on Gmail app for Android. It may be due to a bad update. You need to reset the app. If you donโ€™t want to lose data. Just make sure you first sync you Gmail app from Settings -> Account -> โ€œSync Gmailโ€ is checked.

  1. Unlock your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Go to Apps.
  4. Search for Gmail and select it.
  5. Go to Storage.
  6. Select Clear Data.
  7. Launch Gmail and set it up.

Note: One Android 10 or later, the clear data option may be present right when you select the Gmail app. You can also use this technique for other Android apps. But backup your data first.
