Download latest Android 10 for Asus Zenfone 5 and 5Z

Back in early 2018, Asus launched the stunning Zenfone 5; soon followed by the Zenfone 5Z. The smartphone is powered with Snapdragon 636 and is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It features a 6.20 inch of FULL HD display and a decent 3300 mAh battery. Asus launched the smartphone with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box which later got the stable Android 9 Pie update as well. Today, Asus started Android 10 Beta program for ZenFone 5 series. The Asus Zenfone 5Z (ZS620KL) will soon get the same update. Meanwhile, download and install Android 10 for Asus Zenfone 5 (ZE620KL).

Users who are using Zen UI based on Android 9.0 pie can upgrade their phones to Android 10 Beta by following the installation method below. Mine you that this is the pure AOSP based beta firmware based on Android 10 with build number V17.0615.2003.20. So if you are used to the stock Zen UI skin from Asus, then you may have to make a decision here as this update is based on pure AOSP. Which means the OS is in its complete vanilla state much like Google Pixel firmware. The full firmware package comes in a size around 1.46 GB.

The new update will pack features like the Android 10 gestures a new enhanced Dark mode and better notification management. User can also expect a few minor bugs as it is still in beta state and the stable release will be coming in the near future. So stay tuned!

Download Android 10 Beta for Asus Zenfone 5/5Z (ZE620KL)

The Android 10 AOSP beta firmware update is for WW SKU models of Zenfone 5 (ZE620KL) is now available for download here. To check the model of your phone, Go to Settings->About-> Model number. Please make sure that you make a backup of your data before you start installing the update. We suggest at least to update to 16.0615.2002.120 then only install the UL pack of Android 10. To check the current version of your smartphone- Go to Settings->About-> software information->Build number.

How to update Asus Zenfone 5/5Z to Android 10?

Requirement: Make sure your Zenfone 5 device is running the latest update V16.0615.2002.120 before you upgrade to Android 10 Developer firmware version.

Installation instructions:

• Backup your apps, data, photos etc. and transfer it to your PC.
• Download the update file from the link above.
• Put it in the root folder (internal storage) of your phone as seen in the screenshot below.
• make sure you do not rename the downloaded file or put it inside any folder.

• There should be a new software update notification saying system update file detected.
• Restart your phone if it doesn’t.

• Tap on the notification and hit install.
• Wait for the installation to finish.
• Then reboot the phone once.

How to downgrade back to Android 9.0 pie on Asus Zenfone 5 series?

Users who wish to roll back to Android 9.0 pie based on Zen UI can download the rollback package from the link. Do note this will wipe the data of your phone so make sure to make a backup. Also, make sure that you download the right SKU version of your phone.
