Updated: This works with any other Xiaomi phone running MIUI 10. Xiaomi released MIUI 10.3.5.0 OTA update for all the Pocophones out there. It comes with some new features, general bug fixes, and system improvements. The latest MIUI 10 version for Poco F1 is quite stable and thus it does not require much optimization; only regular Android security patch levels are enough for now. We already received camera upgrade with 4k recording at 60FPS, Game Turbo Mode for gaming performance, Widevine L1 support, and latest security patches based on Android 9.0 Pie. Here is the dark mode for Poco F1 with latest firmware update.

We have reported system-wide dark mode with the latest MIUI 10.3.5.0 firmware upgrade for some in our previous post. It turns out there is a way to enable dark mode easily. Itโ€™s just hidden. Upon investigating, users found that there is a hidden Dark Mode which can easily be enabled without root. All you need to do is issue one ADB command via command prompt or terminal. You can use a Windows PC, MacBook, or Linux machine to issue the commands by connecting it via USB cable.

So here is how to enable dark mode on Xiaomi Poco F1 systemwide. You can use this to enable Dark Mode on any Android phone running Android 9 Pie, Android Q, or later; provided the manufacturer has updated your device to the latest security patch level.

How to Enable Dark Mode on Xiaomi devices using ADB sideload method?

Step 1: Make sure you are on the latest MIUI 10.3.5.0 firmware update for Xiaomi Poco F1. Also, before you proceed change your mobile theme to classic version.

Step 2:ย Enable USB Debugging and Advanced reboot on your Android device from Developer Options. To do so, go to Settings > Developer Options > enable USB Debugging from there. To enable developer options, tap on build number in About Phone about 7 times.

Step 3:ย Make sure you have setup ADB and Fastboot environment on your PC, Mac Book, or Linux machine from here.

Step 4:ย Connect your Android device to PC via USB cable.

Step 5: Navigate to the location where you setup ADB. Open a command prompt or terminal window inside the ADB folder. To do so, type cmd in address bar and hit Enter key.

Step 6: Check your device connectivity, issue the following command via terminal:

adbย devices

Step 7: For Dark Mode, enter the following command

  • Enable Dark Mode: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2ย 
  • Disable Dark Mode: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 1
  • Automatic Mode: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 10

Step 8: Reboot device.

adb reboot

Note: On MacOS and Linux OS you can try prefixes like ./adb and sudo adb.

    do i have to boot into fastboot mode before applying adb commands ?

      No. You don’t need to reboot into Fastboot. Just keep your device on homescreen.
