Moto G5S (Plus) latest OTA update with enhanced security WiFi and Hotspot improvements

Motorola successful released the Android 8.1 Oreo OTA update for the most popular Moto G5 series phones. The manufacturer is now focusing on the Android 9 Pie OTA update for several devices including the Moto G6 and Moto G7 series phones. Once the latest generation phones are done with, the Moto G5s and Moto G5s Plus may soon receive Android 9 Pie. Meanwhile, download the latest OTA update with enhanced security, network stability, and third-party app compatibility.

Today, the OEM manufacturer is rolling out latest OTA update for the Moto G5s Plus featuring a new firmware build numberย OPS28.65-36-11. It comes with security enhancements, better support for Android Messages, and most importantly, WiFi and Hotspot improvements. So if you are facing any of these issues with WiFi or Hotspot stability, then you must be on this firmware update. Moreover, as the device gets security enhancements, this makes it a critical update for the device. However, its not quite clear as to what security enhancements does this OTA feature. Does it mean the latest May 2019 or June 2019 security patch level? Not very clear as of now.

The update is rolling out in India for the Moto G5s (Plus) variants like retin Asian. Other retde, retgb, reteu European and retus USA variants will soon receive the same. Moreover, the Moto G5s and G5s+ are already running the February 2019 patch level. This new update features security, network stability, and third-party app compatibility. How to download Moto G5S and G5S Plus latest OTA update?

As a users you can capture OTA update yourself. Once the OTA update is live for Moto G5 Plus phones you can go through the following steps to capture the latest OTA update from different regions and share the download links.

  • Make sure your Moto G5S (Plus) runs Android 8.1 Oreo
  • Go to Settings app in the apps drawer.
  • Select โ€œSystemโ€.
  • Choose โ€œSystem updatesโ€.
  • If the October update is live in your region, you will see a โ€œdownloadโ€ option.
  • Select โ€œDownloadโ€.
  • After the software is downloaded, select โ€œInstallโ€.

Currently, Motorola is working on Android 9.0 Pie for some of its latest devices via soak test โ€“ like the Moto G6 and G6 Plus series . So in order to participate, and see if your Moto G device is eligible for Android 9.0 Pie Beta, you canย sign up for Motorola Feedback Network (Soak Test).

Meanwhile, you can also download the latest OTA update by simply going to settings > system updates > and check for OTA updates. If available, download and install manually.
