Oxygen OS 9.0: How to update OnePlus 3/3T to Android 9.0 Pie?

Methods 1: Local Update (For users on stable)

Local Upgrade method is the easiest way to update any OnePlus device. However, this is for the stable users. Users on stable or Open Beta can use the recovery method. Also note that theย BootLoader should be locked!ย

Read detailed tutorial here: how to to install OxygenOS full stock firmware or proceed below.

  • Download the latest available OOS full stock firmware zip from above.
  • Get the full firmware package from above for the OnePlus device and transfer the ROM file to the internal storage or phone storage. Place the zip file outside every folder.
  • Now go to Settings app > visit System updates > tap on the top right settings icon > choose Local Upgrade option.
  • The Local Upgrade option will search for an upgrade package.
  • Once you see an upgrade package, tap over it and then hit the install option.

The device will automatically reboot and perform an upgrade. First boot may take a while.

Method 2: Recovery Mode

This is recommended for Open Beta users. This method wonโ€™t throw an error where your current package is greater than this one in local update method above. Also note thatย the entire data will be wiped since while transitioning from Open beta to the stable version. So make a OnePlus Switch backup first!

  • First enterย Fastboot Mode. To do so, turn off the device completely > Press and hold power and volume up keys simultaneously until the device boots up.
  • From the fastboot mode, navigate to Recovery option using volume and power button and power to select.
  • In recovery mode, choose English > Install from Internal storage -> Select the downloaded zip file -> Select โ€˜Yesโ€™.
  • Wait until the installation is complete -> Reboot

Method 3: TWRP recovery method

  • You can also flash it viaย TWRP for OnePlus 3ย and TWRP for OnePlus 3T.
  • Perform a Factory Reset before first boot.
  • Your device may get encrypted during boot (data partition may be corrupted on encrypted devices).
  • Magisk v18.1 is working on this build.
  • Stock recovery will be installed and TWRP will be removed; unless you flash Magisk before first reboot.
