Samsung is now working on the latest Android 9.0 Pie Beta for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus based on Samsung Experience 10 (SE 10). If you must know, we already have the SE 10 Android Pie alpha builds for the Galaxy S9 and Note 9. Samsung’s recently Galaxy Note 9 re-release of the September patch brings many improvements to the phone’s camera. With a new firmware build number N960FXXU2ARJ1, Note 9 users can see better camera quality; for both front and rear cameras. The camera quality has been improved significantly in backlit or low light conditions. Moreover, day/night HDR control accuracy has been improved. Also, the low light brightness and Signal Noise Ration (SRN) have also been improved significantly.

Though the security patch remains the same as September 2018, this is a dedicated camera update. Now that the Pixel 3 has been launched, reviewers are definitely going to compare the camera of Pixel 3 with the Note 9. So in order to make the Note 9 compete with the latest Google flagship, Samsung has pushed this stunning update.

On the contrary, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus gets October 2018 Security Patch with similar camera and battery improvements with an added benefit of Android security. The OTA update features improved performance of front camera for better selfie pictures. Brightness of faces in backlit conditions have been improved. It packs new firmware build numbers G960FXXU2BRJ3 and G965FXXU2BRJ3 for S9 and S9 Plus respectively.

Moreover, some users of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus report that the new October update has also enhanced the battery life significantly. This may be due to the upgrade in kernel version. So if you can, you must definitely update to the new October OTA update on all Samsung devices.

How to download October OTA update for Samsung phones?

First thing you can do is manually download the OTA update from settings. To do so, open the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy device, tap on Software updates, tap on Download updates manually option. Depending on the region you are in, you should get the OAT update notification.

Alternatively, you can download the full stock firmware update from Samsung Server and update it manually via Odin software.
