Download and Install OnePlus 5 and 5T Open Beta 8 and Beta 6 based on Android 8.1 Oreo

Update: Incremental OTA updatesย Open Beta 10 for OnePlus 5 and Beta 8 for OnePlus 5T are now available for download. Both the firmware updates feature Android 8.1 Oreo with latest May 2018 Android Security Patch. This new update comes with many new features and uprades to the OnePlus Launcher, OnePlus Switch, and Message app. The new beta updates feature new double-tap to lock screen for the OnePlus Launcher, improved searched history for App drawer, updated File manager app with optimized scanning logic for large files. We also have posted the download links for the same.

OnePlus 5 and 5T are one of the first devices to get updated to official Android 8.1 Oreo based on OxygenOS 5.1. We first saw the Oreo update for the two devices with previous Open Betas. Now, the two flagships receive April 2018 Android security patch. This comes with the latest OxygenOS based Open Beta 8 for the OnePlus 5 and Beta 6 for the OnePlus 5T. This makes the two devices on the same platform as the Google Pixel or Nexus phones. With Google rolling out Android P preview builds, these two devices will receive the same.

The previous Beta updates brought recent search tags to OnePlus Launcher search option in the app drawer. The weather app now accurately gets your current location.ย It also a features a new icon and user interface. One of the most important feature is theย Network boost in Gaming mode. Now your online games have better connectivity.

The previous Open Beta 7 for OnePlus 5 brought Android 8.1 Oreo firmware upgrade. This new update brings the latest April 2018 Android Security Patch and more.

The previous OTA update brings a new feature called Earphone Mode. This feature allows autoplay features when the headphones are connected to the device. You can launch any app, music, etc as soon as you connect to an audio device. It will also announce caller information during calls.

You also get some new features such as the OnePlus Clock design changes including the stopwatch. You will see a new feature added called card package to sign up for new membership card in Shelf. The complete chaneglog is below.

How to install Open Beta on OnePlus 5/5T?

If you are already on the previous Open Beta update, then you can got to Settings > System updates > and check for OTA updates.

Similarly, if you are rooted and donโ€™t want to lose root access, then you can install it using ADB sideload method or stock recovery.
