How to flash Android 8.1 Oreo onto Google Pixel and Nexus phones?

1) The installation is simple, if your device is on the previous 8.1 Oreo DP 1, then you will receive an OTA update. All you need to do is check for any OTA updates from settings.

2) If your device is on the stable 8.0 Oreo update, then to get the final Developer Preview, you need to enroll in theย Android Beta Program.ย Once enrolled, youโ€™ll receive an update in the next few hours.ย Note that only a select few Nexus and Google devices are eligible for theย Android Beta Program.

3) Lastly, you can simply download the Android 8.1 Oreo Developer Preview 2 factory image and flash using the fastboot mode. This is helpful when you have rooted your device and installed a custom TWRP recovery. When you have custom packages installed you lose the ability to receive and install OTA updates and install them using the recovery. So using the factory images, you can restore your device back to stock.
