How to revert back to old boot animation on oneplus 3-3t

The latest OxygenOS Open Beta released yesterday, comes with a few bug fixes and a little bit of tweaks here and there. One of the most remarkable upgrade comes to the Blueborne vulnerability Patch. There, however, is one interesting feature of the OxygenOS Open Beta 24/15 update; which is the new Boot animation disliked by all. The new boot animation features a hand written โ€œNever Settleโ€ tag. There is one problem, though. Everyone hates it.

The new boot animation is disliked by a lot of OnePlus 3 and 3T users. Though the highly anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo has not arrived with the latest Open Beta, there are new features like the new Boot animation. So if you donโ€™t like the new change, you can revert back to the old one.

There are multiple ways to either install the new Boot animation or revert back to the original boot animation. First one is by simply replacing the bootanimation.zip to the preferred one found under system/media. Another way is to install the Magisk module that consists of the old boot animation. All the procedures require you to have root access on your OnePlus 3/3T.

How to install the new Boot Animation from Open Beta 24/15?

The new boot animation introduced in Open Beta 24/15 can be installed onto stock OxygenOS 4.1.7 or even the HydrogenOS H2OS firmware.

Step 1:ย Make sure your device has root access.

Step 2: Before you begin, either take a full Nandroid backup from TWRP or keep a copy of the full stock firmware of the latest Open Beta firmware.

Step 3: Download the new boot animation zip from above. Transfer it to phone storage.

Step 4: Open a root file manager.

Step 5: Now go to /system/media and rename your current bootanimation.zipย file to bootanimation.zip.bak (This will keep a backup of the original file if anything goes wrong.)

Step 6:ย Now copy the new boot animation zip and paste it in /system/media.

Step 7: Rename it to bootanimation.zip.

Step 8: Make sure to change permissions to rx- r- r (0644). See how to give permissions from here.

Step 9: Reboot your device.

The same could be used to revert to the old boot animation found in the official OxygenOS 4.1.7 or earlier.

You can go through the same procedure listed above using the old boot animation zip. Alternatively, if you have Magisk installed on OnePlus 3/3T, then simply grab the magisk module from above and flash via

Step 1: Make sure you have the latest Magisk v14 or later on your OnePlus 3/3T.

Step 2: Download the magisk module for old boot animation from above.

Step 3: Transfer it to phone storage.

Step 4: Open the Magisk Manager app.

Step 5: Go to modules section and add a module from storage.

Step 6: Select the Boot animation module and install it.

Step 7: Reboot device once.
