Update September 13, 2017 โ€“ FlashFire v0.71 is now available for download with A/B OTA flashing bug fixes. Update 2 โ€“ FlashFire v0.72 now available with September 2017 Security Patch.ย Flashfire is quite popular when it comes to flashing full stock firmware packages, OTA packages, some other flashable custom image without using PC. It is an advanced on-device flasher tool to apply any updates or full firmware images right from your Android phone simply using an app. Flashing packages using FlashFire does not require you to connect your phone to PC. Now, the apps is being updated to FlashFire v0.72.

Since FlashFire v0.70 its supports the latest Android 8.0.0 Oreo. The developer states that the only change in version 0.70 update is the flash mode UIโ€™s compatibility with Android Oreo. The graphics drivers used in this version can now cope with the new changes in Android system. These are most likely related to Treble.

At first, the app was mainly developed for Samsung devices which could flash full firmware packages named Mobile ODINย app and Flashfire is the successor. Now, it supports most of the Android devices from various manufacturers. Checkout the usage and supported devices from our previous post listed below.

FlashFire comes from the same developer who introduced root access tricks for Android phones. Yes, it is Chainfire and the developer have successfully deployed a new version of FlashFire in support of the latest Android 8.0.0 Oreo firmware update.

Although, it brings compatibility for Oreo, there are only few devices running the new Oreo firmware update. Hence, not all devices have been tested. You will need to test it on your device yourself. However, the quick tests performed by Chainfire work fine.

What is FlashFire?

FlashFireย is an advanced on-device firmware flasher available forย rootedย Android devices. It can flash full firmware packages from various manufacturers, as well as apply over-the-air (OTA) and ZIP updates โ€“ all while maintaining root, and without using a custom recovery. It also offers full device backup and restore functionalities in several formats. Relevant files can be stored on internal storage, SD cards, USB connected storage, or can even be streamed directly to and from your computer using USB or Wi-Fi.

Whatโ€™s new with FlashFire v0.72?

FlashFire v0.72 released.ย It brings some more Oreo related fixes. Some of them ย are related to flash mode startup. It fixes some black screen errors.

A/B related OTA handling can also be found. Mostly related to Pixel devices.
