Android – 8.0 Oreo Lineage OS 15 ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo download and install

Update: Official Lineage OS 15.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo is now available for OG Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL devices. See how to download and install LineageOS 15.1 Nightly Build for Pixel Android phones. Google released the latest Android 8.1 Oreo last year with some stunning features. The factory images and OTA updates (system images) are already available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Google OG Pixel (XL), Pixel 2 (XL), and Pixel C.

Soon after the official AOSP builds were out, we saw the Android P Developer Previews which are now in the final release with August 20, 2018 be the first official build. Developers have already started porting the new DP 5 with Android P GSI for Project Treble devices.

However, if you are looking for a stable experience, then Lineage OS 15.1 is the best bet for you. The first custom AOSP 8.0 Oreo build came for Xiaomi devices. Now, the first Lineage OS 15.1 ROM has been developed for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL device. The “lineage-15.1” kernel tree has been uploaded onto LineageOS Github.

How to install Lineage OS 15.1 ROM on Google Pixel phones

Install LineageOS 15 ROM as you will install any Android device. procedure is the same as that of any other custom ROM like the official Resurrection Remix. Make sure your Android device has an unlocked bootloader and a custom TWRP recovery installed. Grab the latest Lineage OS build from above and flash it via TWRP recovery.

Step 1: Download the LineageOS 15.1 ROM, compatible Google Apps, and Magisk package to root access.

Step 2: Transfer all the files to your device’s internal storage or SDcard.

Step 3: Reboot into TWRP recovery. To do so, Power off the device completely and then press and hold the power button and volume down key for a few seconds.

Step 4: Take a full Nandroid backup from TWRP. Backup partitions like system, data, boot, recovery, EFS and cache(optional).

Note 1: If your device is running an official build of LineageOS 14.1, then you simply need to wipe the system partition in order to upgrade to Lineage OS 15.1.

Note 2: If your device is running any other ROM or stock firmware, then you can follow these steps for a clean flash with wiping data and system partitions.

Step 5: Wipe the current system or factory reset. Wipe data, system, cache, etc. DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL STORAGE.

Step 6: Go to homescreen and Tap on Install option. Select the Lineage OS ROM zip file.

Step 7:  Confirm flash.

Step 8: Similarly, flash the Gapps and Magisk zip as well.

Step 9: Reboot to system.

    Currently my Google Pixel (First Generation) device is running on android P Beta 4. Can i install first Lineage OS 15 on my device?? Can i use both android P 9.0 or Lineage OS 15 at same time?
