Android 8.0 Oreo downloads

Update: The Factory images, OAT update, and the System images for official Android 8.0 Oreo firmware are now available for download. Google officially named the next Android 8.0 firmware update as Oreo. Following the Nougat, the Android 8.0 Oreo is the next best thing. The first few devices receiving the update are the Google Pixel (XL) phones, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, etc. Some of the older phones like Nexus 5, 6, 7 may never receive the update. However, they will still continue to receive security patches. The official Android 8.0 Oreo is here and see whatโ€™s new.

Android 8.0 Oreo is termed as smarter, faster, and even more powerful. It is claimed to be 2x faster than its predecessors like Android Nougat and Marshmallow. It also limits background running processes for better battery life, and plenty of empty RAM. Autofills now suggest words, saved logins credentials into apps.ย Picture-in-Picture allows you to run multiple apps at once. New Emojis have been introduced as well.

ย Manually flashing a device: How to install?

One way is to enroll for Android O Developer Preview, get the stable Android 8.0 Oreo OTA update and once installed, unroll the beta update. This is the fastest way to get the latest software update on Nexus and Pixel.

Go to Settings>System Updates and download and install the OTA updates. Alternatively, you can download the OTA zip files and full factory images and flash them manually. Theย OTA updates can be installed via Stockย Recovery orย via ADB sideload method.

Factory images, on the other hand, need the fastboot method to flash. Seeย how to install Factory Images on Nexus devicesย (or go toย this tutorialย ).
