amsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Android 7.1.1 Nougat ROM port

We have already posted about the first Android 7.1.1 Nougat build for Samsung Experience 8.1 (formerly known as TouchWiz) released for the Galaxy J3 Prime. This is the first official build of the latest Nougat from Samsung. This means the update will soon roll out for other Galaxy devices including Galaxy S8, S8+, S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 8, Note FE, Galaxy J7, J5, A5, A7, etc. However, you may have to wait a little longer for the official release. As an alternative, you can flash the 7.1.1 Nougat J3 ROM port for the S8/S8+. The ROM port comes as a custom upgrade package for the S8 device only.

So if you are eager to test all the new features of the upcoming new firmware, then flash the custom Android 7.1.1 Nougat ROM zip via TWRP recovery. Yes, your S8 needs to be rooted with TWRP setup on the latest stock firmware G050FXXU1AQG5. Find all the requirements in the tutorial below.

But first, letโ€™s see what we get with the firmware update and how stable it actually is. The update is based on firmware version J3308ZMU1AQG3 (Baseband released for J3 Prime). It comes with latest Android Security Patch Level 1 July 2017. The update listed below is not a full firmware. It is a small OTA update forย Samsung S8 to get Android v7.1.1. We may soon see similar OTA update for the Galaxy S8+. The package is for stock basedย custom ROMS only.

It also works with Kernels like stock, Notoriuous, or Batstock. Only the international or global variants of S8 will work for now like SM-G950F,ย SM-G950FD.

The update comes with most new Samsung apps and features like:

  • Samsung SMS
  • Clock
  • Touchwiz,
  • Weather,
  • My Files,
  • Gallery,
  • Email,
  • Calendar,
  • Samsung Video,
