Samsung Galaxy J7 Max

Three separate Samsung devices, namely- Galaxy J7 Max, Galaxy J3 2016 and Galaxy J1 2016 have just started receiving June security updates while few other devices are already rolling out with updates for the month of July. The updates are a part of Samsung’s Security Maintenance Release (SMR) to combat the threats of malicious software attacking and taking control of your device.

The updates, which come out via Over The Air (OTA) mode of transmission, carry the build number G615FXXU1AQF4 for the Galaxy J7 Max followed by J320FXXU0AQF1 and J120HXXS0AQF1 for Galaxy J3 2016 and Galaxy J1 respectively.

In related news, even the carrier locked flagship devices like Sprint’s Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and T-Mobile’s Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ are still on previous month’s security update which should be a concern for the South Korean giant

With an official changelog for the various devices not yet available, the update is also said to have included miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations for the devices. Besides the security bulletin provided by Google for the July, Samsung also listed 16 separate issues listed under Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) and promised to provide updates for its devices to counter the issues.

Although the OTA phase out should be complete within a week or two, to manually check if the update is available for the device head over to  Settings > About > Software Update and hit Install. Ensure that you have sufficient battery on your device and are downloading the OTA through a stable connection
