Install OnePlus 5 LineageOS 14.1 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat [Downloads]

The development of OnePlus 5 has already begun ever since the custom TWRP recovery first showed up. We have already posted multiple posts regarding the unlocking of the bootloader, rooting, and installing TWRP on the OnePlus 5. Today, the first Lineage OS 14.1 build for OnePlus 5 is now available for download. Being an unofficial build, it can be treated as  Beat ROM. Hence, the LOS nightly ROM listed below may come with some bugs. With further development, you will see an official nightly ROM as well.

Thanks to koenkk, we now have our first Lineage OS 14.1 ROM Nighty build based on the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat for the stunning OnePlus 5. The ROM is based on Vanilla LineageOS sources (cm-14.1 branch). There are no OTA update support as the ROM is unofficial. However, new builds are already being developed. For the official Lineage OS 14.1 for OnePlus 5, bookmark this page. We have already seen the Resurrection Remix 5.8.3 for the same. As reported, the Paranoid Android build will also be available with OnePlus 5.

Flash SuperSU or Magisk from below.

Note 1: In case you want to restore back to the official Oxygen OS 4.5.5 firmware update or the latest H2OS ROM, then you can do the same by following the same procedure as below. You just need the official ROM instead of the LOS. Also, do not flash Gapps on OxygenOS.

Note 2: OnePlus devices won’t void warranty if you root your device or flash a custom ROM. This is the best thing about the manufacturer. Just make sure you follow the procedure properly.

How to install LineageOS 14.1 onto OnePlus 5 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat?

Step 1: First, make sure the bootloader in unlocked and device is rooted with latest TWRP recovery.

Step 2: Make sure you have the official latest TWRP version installed on OP5.

Step 3: Download all the files from the download section and transfer it to your device’s internal storage.

Step 4: Reboot into TWRP recovery.

Step 5: Take a complete Nandroid backup.

Step 6: Go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe and format (system/data) device through TWRP

Step 7: Flash the latest available Lineage OS 14.1 ROM by clicking Install option. Navigate to the file and select it. Then swipe right to confirm flash.

Step 8: Similarly, flash the GApps (Google Apps) with ARM64 7.1.

Step 9: Reboot your device to system.

How to root OnePlus 5 on Lineage OS 14.1 or any custom ROM?

There are actually two ways to root OnePlus 5. The first is to flash the latest SuperSU zip file. This is a rather conventional method.

Secondly, you can flash the latest Magisk v13.1 from here. It has several benefits like root hide, Safety Net check and much more.

The steps are simple and similar to those listed above.

• Reboot into TWRP recovery.
• Tap on Install.
• Select the SuperSU or Magisk zip file.
• Confirm flash.
