Asus Zenfone Live

Asus is now providing June security updates to its social platform oriented Zenfone Live for fixing critical vulnerablity issues that have been plaguing the android platform. The security patch comes with the build version 13.1407.1705.21 for the ZB501KL variant of the device and is being rolled out via Over The Air (OTA) transmission.

Unfortunately, users will have to wait for their update to Nougat since the only changes the current update encompasses are security updates and minor bugfixes and patches aimed at power and performance optimization. Chances are that the wait will be short since various other Asus devices like Zenpad 3 8.0, Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3 Zoom have begun receiving their Nougat updates. The total list of changes made by Asus in its latest update are listed down below:

  • System stability improvements and optimizations.
  • June security patches
  • Fixes abnormal photo issues when the camera is on night/low light mode.
  • Fixes Russian string issues.

With Android O right around the corner and the July security update already out, Asus would need to think beyond market gimmicks if it intends to capture a place in the highly competitive smartphone market.

Zenfone Live users can check for updates by heading over to Settings > About > System Device to see if the update has been made available to them yet.
