Galaxy S6 Sprint Nougat firmware update How to Root Sprint Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

Almost all the US carrier variants have released Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update for the stunning Samsung S6. One of them is the Sprint carrier that released Nougat OTA update to Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920P, S6 Edge SM-G925P, and S6 Edge Plus SM-G928P. The trio is now running on Baseband version G920PVPS4DQE2, G925PVPS4DQE2, and G928PVPS4DQE2. All based on Android 7.0 sources. While Samsung is busy developing an official Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, here we will show you how to root Sprint Galaxy S6, Sprint S6 Edge (Plus) on Nougat. This also works on the previous Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

There are actually two methods of rooting Samsung devices. The first one being the CFAR, short for CF-Auto-Root. The second one is more of a conventional method. In this you setup TWRP, and flash either the latest SuperSU or Magisk Manager. So letโ€™s begin.

How to root Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 (Edge)(Plus) with CFAR โ€“ CF-Auto-Root?

For this you need latest CFAR files:

How to install TWRP and root Sprint S6/Edge/Plus on Nougat?

Downloads:

Prerequisites:

  • Update your Sprint S6 device to official Nougat OS. (see above)
  • Make sure you have enabled OEM unlock and USB debugging.ย (see above)

Download all the necessary files from the download section. Now transfer these files to your deviceโ€™s internal storage and TWRP on PC. You can either flash SuperSU, or Magisk Manager at the end. Follow the sequence.

Step 1:ย Reboot device into the bootloader or Odin mode on your S6 device. Turn phone off. Press the volume down, home and power buttons simultaneously.

Step 2: Open Odin software on your PC and connect your Galaxy device to your computer.

Step 3: In Odin, Click on AP and flash TWRP recovery.

Step 4: Once successful, reboot into the TWRP recovery.

Step 5: Backup everything.

Step 6: Now tap on โ€œInstallโ€ and flash the SuperSU or Magisk Manager. Flash only one.
