MIUI-8.5

Xiaomi recently released  MIUI 8.5 update for the Redmi 4A bringing various fixes for some popular issues raised by the community.

The update, carrying the build number V8.5.1.0.MCCMIED, weighs in at  1.3GB for the flashable zip file and 1.7GB for the fastboot tar file, both of which are included down below.

MIUI 8.5 Changelog for Xiaomi Redmi 4A

The latest update for the device fixes various bugs which were encountered by users in the previous MIUI 8.2 build. The current update lays greater emphasis on fixes rather than new features and provides miscellaneous optimisations for your device.  The complete changelog can be viewed below:

Download MIUI 8.5 for Xiaomi Redmi 4A

The MIUI 8.5 update can either be flashed via your recovery or via fastboot method, both of which have been provided in the links given below:

Each File has a separate installation method, both of which are mentioned down below:

 

Method 1: Flash Recovery ROM via System Update

Note: Ensure that you are running MIUI 8.2 Stock ROM else it may result in a bricked device
  1. Download the MIUI 8.5 Flashable Zip provided in the above section
  2. Move the downloaded file to the root of your internal storage
  3. Launch Updater app on your device.
  4. Click the ‘’ icon at the top-right corner.
  5. Select Choose update package
  6. Select the downloaded file
  7. Reboot the device if it does not reboot automatically

Your Redmi 4A should now be updated to MIUI 8.5

Method 2: Flash Recovery ROM via FastbootUpdate

This method is exclusively for Unlocked Bootloaders. In case your bootloader is locked, refer to the guide here to unlock your Redmi 4A.

  1. Download MIUI ROM Flashing Tool
  2. Download Fastboot files for Redmi 4A
  3. Turn off the device
  4. Press Volume Down+Power buttons simultaneously to enter Fastboot mode
  5. Connect your device to PC via micro-USB cable
  6. Extract the ROM and copy the file pathRedmi-4A-extraction
  7. Install and run the MIUI ROM flashing tool and paste the path of the ROM as shown below

  8. Click on the first button (circled out in yellow) to Refresh, and MiFlash should automatically recognise the device.
  9. Now, click the second button (circled out in red) to flash the ROM file to the device.
  10. Wait until the progress bar inside MiFlash turns fully green, which means the ROM has been installed successfully. Then your device should automatically boot to the new version.Xiaomi-flashtool-success

 

Though the guide is simple enough, there are always chances of something going wrong. In case you get stuck or your device enters a bootloop, download the Mi PC Suite to restore your device.
